Paid around 100 pounds per night for B&B, rooms could be cleaner, better maintained. Bathroom only had bath, no shower. Hot breakfast took a long time to order and much longer to be served. Central location is a negative in this case as the square gets very noisy at night with drunks and 6am with deliveries, dont expect to get... more

We arrived at the King's Head Hotel on a Thursday in February where we had booked a 'deluxe room' with dinner on one of two nights included and breakfast, and were looking forward to a relaxing break. The reception area was very 'tired' and our room overlooked the market square. There was a piece of double-glazing missing from one of... more

My partner and I stayed in this traditional quaint hotel and managed to get a great deal given that it was out of season. We paid £75 per night for a double room in January, which included a 3 course dinner on one of the nights. We were impressed at the value but would unlikely have paid full price given... more

Firstly i would like to say that the staff are fantastic ( the only saviour really). We booked one night and paid for a deluxe upgrade room with kingsize bed. First impression of the room was that it was okay but needed decorating. The bed (kingsize) was two twins put together. Okay if they are together but the gap between... more

On our way to Scotland we stopped off at this wonderful old town so we could see my brother & his wife. The value for money was excellent - we were on a dinner B&B package and it included afternoon tea on arrival! All of which was very good. Our room had been recently been re-decorated and retained the Georgian... more

An unusually sunny September weekend, the anticipation of one of our usually pleasing 'Club weekends'---both aspects excellent.! Having read a copy of 'The Architecture of Richmondshire', I was relishing a visit to the 'Kings Head'. Like so many of our 'national treasures', the ravages of time (and indescriminate modernisers) have succeeded in producing a building which has 'seen better times',... more

We had a lovely one-night stay in the Kings Head. Booked the 'Sunday Special' £80 which included a 2-course meal & bottle of wine - any one from the menu. The front desk staff were very friendly as were the restaurant staff. The food was excellent. Only complaint was that we had to sleep with the window open so there... more

We have stayed in basic and luxurious hotels all over the world and never had to complain about the cleanliness of a room until we arrived at the Kings Head Hotel. It is a very tired looking place in need of major reburbishment, but when we opened the door to room 7 I could not believe we were expected to... more

On arrival I had to wait over an hour to check in as my room wasn't ready. The room had a hole in the floor and ill fitting windows. A previous occupant had stuffed toliet tissue into the gaps to try to stop them rattling/letting in drafts. The bathroom was freezing cold and had no shower, just a bath suitable... more

I have stayed in the Kings Head a number of times in the past two years and, unfortunately, it is the little things that really let it down. I stayed here about a year ago and, having driven from Salisbury to Richmond (about 4 3/4 hrs), I was looking forward to a nice shower. I went into the room to... more
