Arriving at this historic hotel set in beautiful countryside expectations were high, however this was soon flattened by the greeting received. From the minute we stepped in to the hotel the owners were so rude it was almost funny. We arrived a little later than we expected and were told we had missed dinner , this was at 7:45 in... More

Wow this hotel certainly is a hidden gem. Set in seven acres of beautiful country side about 3 miles from Richmond. A hall that has been restored with great care by the owners and steeped in history. WE stayed in room 21 a delight and a four poster bed. Breakfast was very tasty, great sausages. We had a three course... More

Situated in a beautiful location I had high hopes for this hall. On the outside the property is wonderful. However this quickly changes on entering the hall we were greeted by the owner who shows you round the lower rooms of the hall each door is opened but then closed very quickly making you feel very unwelcome. After the "grand... More

Upon arrival it appears to be a lovely Hall situated in the middle of the countryside. Then you walk in. The inside is very dated, which we wouldn't have minded, if it was clean!! There were bits on the carpet in the bedroom, the bath was filthy and there was a dead fly on the bathroom floor. The bed was... More

I have no doubt that those who can afford the plush, modern, formulaic hotels would waste no time in condemning this hotel. So why are such comparisons made with those 'grander' hotels because I experienced no pretence here; only good, honest, hardworking people. I think that this is a quaint old Hall nestling in a peaceful corner of a truly... More

A stunning and lovely setting and location. Staff could not have been more helpful and were absolutely superb, going above and beyond our expectations and out of their way to help. Whilst the hotel and rooms and decor may, to some, seem tired, the rooms were spacious, well-equipped and ideal for our needs. Equally, we found the rooms comfortable and... More

The building has been lovingly restored by the Johnsons from a wreck some 28 years ago. We had three rooms in the front of the hotel which were clean and very comfortable. From the beginning we loved the place - in an old building it would be easy to criticise some things if you started off in the wrong frame... More

The building itself is full of character, both inside and outside, the food is traditional and wholesome, and the staff are so friendly and attentive with an air of sincerity. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be returning. An excellent location from which to explore the north dales.

Exterior and location marvellous but it stops at the front door. Very dated and dirty; the decor was 'period' but in every respect tired, grubby and in need of very extensive TLC. Our room was full of gothic furniture, with a trouser press and ironing board rammed in for good measure, and loads of chintzy garbage covered in greasy fingermarks.... More

Be aware that this hotel is tired and run down. The hotel service is less than adequare and it is vastly overpriced. My husband and I stayed in a 'de-luxe' room on Saturday the 14th of June 2014, at a cost of £126.00 for bed and breakfast. The bathroom was awful, torn wallpaper with damp patches, and a leaking toilet... More
