My husband and I stayed at the Golden Lion Hotel for 1 night whilst visiting Northallerton for a wedding. The hotel were offering a discounted rate for wedding guests which was great. We was allowed to check in earlier than stated and the reception staff were fab and very helpful with any query. We stayed in room 5 which looked... More

I stayed in Northallerton recently for a friends wedding and had a lovely night at the Golden Lion hotel. Because I had been at a reception I can only comment on the room but it is clear that the management has done an excellent job refurbishing it and the rooms are well equipped with a good sized bathroom, comfortable bed... Four of us had lunch here and had little complaint although the side dish of season vegetables could have done with a few more minutes in the steamer. We thought the menue was very eighties, hadn't eaten in a place like this since then maybe. Seemed to appeal to a more descerning clientel (Mature), and nothing wrong in that. Enjoyed... More

Excellent food at very good prices. Service was excellent. Didn't stay in the hotel but ate here. .Would definitely recommend if you like good well priced food. Id recommend booking a table in advance as the restraint gets full very quickly. The service is quick and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

Stayed in the Golden Lion for one night while passing through. Rooms quite adequate if a little cramped, breakfast fine, car parking good. Did not eat there in the evening, not a venue I would choose for a holiday but quite suitable for what I wanted

We are elderly couple and struggled with the stairs in this many level hotel with no lift. The room was medium but gets crowded with luggage. Only one bedside table. Newly renovated bathroom very good but found the shower taps hard to regulate. Breakfast was average but the restaurant meals very good. Staff helpful. Car park at the back in... More

We called here for an early evening meal on the way home from a tour of the dales. The welcome was friendly, the food was good, tasty and great value - I had the roast turkey in a giant Yorkshire pudding which was lovely and a snip at £6.50. Sadly we didn't have room for dessert. I would definitely eat... More

We thought we would have a drive out to this restaurant and have a change from the hotel we were staying in, that was the first mistake. Although the starter was really nice, the main was a bit of a let down. The fish batter was over cooked and the fish was tasteless and the chips weren't much better. Although... More

Having eaten here many times and also having lovely food, my friend and I decided to pop in for a scone and a drink one lunchtime. As the food is normally brilliant we were both looking forward to big, home made scones. We were VERY disappointed. I think a member of staff had run across to Greggs and bought the... More

Stayed for one night, large car park to rear, if driving avoid high street particularly on market day (Wednesday). Nice welcome including pass for car park obtained from reception. Room was to rear well proportioned, with plenty of space to rear. Tried the ales, Theakstons Lightfoot was well kept and beautifully served. Would have eaten but they had an event... More
