A late booking unearthed an unexpected treasure when we arranged a one night stay at Monk Fryston Hall. We needed somewhere with room for five, reasonable prices and not too far from York - about 30 minutes drive. But as soon as wearrived it was clear there was much more to recommend the hotel . including an appealing exterior, charactful reception rooms... More

Have travelled to this hotel several times usually for a one night stop on business. This is a country house hotel and is quaint and full of character, being so it does have it's little quicks, and long may they remain. Good sized rooms well fitted, some might say in need of a little updating but not too much please.... More

Stayed here for a few days on business. Food was very good. Grounds are amazing. Lovely building, although a little dated in places but the bar-lady (margaret i think) tells me new owners are due. so they maybe refurbing soon? Good selection of food and drink and the staff were very good. I would especially like to thank the young... More

Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection on the cold buffet table. Full English was great and the kippers were lovely too. The hotel has lots of character so don't go expecting the usual chrome and glass decor.

One night stay booked at the very last minute, but wow for £50 it was a nice surprise, this is a massive mansion with log fires and old sofas dotted around. The rooms are big, bit old fashioned but very warm and comfy. Wifi had just broken when I arrived which was really annoying so had to retire to the... More

What a lovely welcome in a lovely location with extensive beautiful gardens. We arrived to a cosy roaring log fire in the hall +a glass of vino + pint of beer what a combination. This hotel has been very tastefuly restored in keeping with historic appearance, with extensive use of wood panelled walls Although there was a quiet wedding reception... More

We stay here two or three times a year when visiting the area. It is an old fashioned, cosy and comfortable experience staying here. The staff are all charming and helpful, the food excellent (breakfast is served exactly as requested - in our case really burnt bacon and lightly fried eggs) We always try to get room 26 - it`s... What a fantastic hotel, stayed overnight and knew I was in for a good one as I approached the hotel along its own private drive! Lovely old building and thr rooms have all mod cons. The restaurant is top class and was a fine dining experience at reasonable prices
