Just come back from a weekend stay in Knaresborough. What a beautiful town. This hotel is centrally located on the main market square. The rooms are not in the pub itself but in the stable block behind. The rooms look to have been recently refurbished and are well decorated, comfortable and spotless. The bar staff work incredibly hard and are... More

Stayed Saturday night, couldn't fault it. Rooms are out the back of the pub in an annex and are nice, large and comfy. Good big breakfast in the main pub area the next morning (you have to pre order the night before).

We booked into the Royal Oak for one night on the way to York . The Inn was situated in the centre of Knaresborough, this was very convenient. It had private parking, and the mews bedrooms where lovely. We had a super room, with a very high ceiling, and beams. A lovely comfy bed, and a bathroom with all the facilities... More

We called into the Old Royal Oak looking for a bar meal. We were not disappointed. All four of us were more than satisfied with our meals. They were delicious and the helpings were very generous. The staff were very friendly and the surroundings cosy. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Booked quite late for a night to enjoy the Tour De France. We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. Very, very clean, comfortable room and fantastic breakfast that kept us going all day which we really needed. Thanks you very much, we will definitely come back.

Called into Knaresborough on the way home from York and we found this pub for a meal. As it was quite late and all food is freshly made some of the menu wasnt available. My wife wanted the fish pie but having got over the disapointment she had the brocoli bake with the extra on the side. I had sausage... More

I wanted somewhere to meet up with 8 other people prior to a few days away with the group. This pub is absolutely central to Knaresborough and was perfect with car parks behind. We had a fantastic lunch and the lady (sorry forget her name) was just brilliant coping with a 10 mad pensioners. She even gave us tourist information... More

This is a fantastic pub with a very local feel. Well kept hand pulled real ale and very nice food at a good price. I stayed here for two nights in the detached accommodation at the rear of the pubs courtyard. I stayed on the first floor and was really impressed with the quality of the room. The high exposed... Great staff! Great food. Something on every night. Complete hidden gem. Mark is great - really helpful and a great singer! Also such a lovely village. The castle and bridge is worth the visit alone :-)
