Popped in for lunch on a cold and windy day last Wednesday (14Jan). The pub is just opposite the old quaint Knaresborough railway station in a quiet cul-de-sac. There is a warm welcome here. The two girls behind the bar were superb. They were chatty and knowledgeable not only about the excellent range of real ales but also about the... More

We popped in for a quick beer after getting off the train & stopped for more! Beer selection was impressive & the staff great - barman actually topped a pint of cask ale twice before he was happy to pass it over as being "full". A special mention goes to the dark cherry Budvar beer that was fantastic

We have just returned from a lovely overnight stay at this fantastic inn/hotel for the Christmas market. The location is perfect and the lady who checked us in was really helpful and friendly, providing us with a parking disc and giving us lots of tips on shopping and places to visit. We thought it was a very reasonable price to... More

We found the accommodation available in Harrogate slightly too expensive, so looked at the Mitre Inn instead. We were very happy with what we got. The room was well equipped, highly comfortable, the breakfast hearty, for a decent rate. The location is highly recommended for anyone looking to spend time in Harrogate, but also York, as it's only 25 minutes... More

We called in for lunch in a Tuesday lunchtime in November from a recommendation of another pub who wasn't serving food that day! Rally pleased we went here, the Macaroni Cheese dish I had was delicious, looked good and and was tasty - it wasn't something cooked out of the freezer. My boyfriend's pulled pork meal was also very nice... More

We called in to the Mitre for a quick, early evening pub meal on a recent Saturday. The bar area was very busy, with a real buzz to the place. The menu offered a good range of options, with more on the specials board. We shared the nachos and whitebait to start and then the tuna and the falafels main... More

Five of us travelled to Knaresborough for a reunion and were so impressed by the food, the well stocked bar and the lovely staff that we booked to come back there and then. The rooms were clean and comfortable but would benefit from larger beds as two of our party are over six feet. Our dinner was lovely with very... More

We spent just one night in a b&b in Knaresborough and were recommended to try this pub. Having wandered around the town for a while and trying one or two other pubs we eventually came across the Mitre and were immediately impressed by the ambiance, and more particularly the long list of beers available, most of them local. The food... More

I stopped off for the serious business of my morning coffee and was not disappointed. Friendly staff, superb coffee and pleasant surroundings. Would take longer next time and test out the comprehensive menu or even stay over. Makes an interesting contrast to the somewhat grubby facility free station next door! Highly recommend this lovely place.

Ok I am slightly biased. We held our wedding reception here a few years ago and they did a fantastic job for us. I've never eaten an evening meal at the Mitre (apart from at our wedding)as we tend to visit the local Indian on a night out however their breakfasts are fantastic. They have a superb range of drinks... More
