What a wonderful quirky traditional memory lane pub. A short walk from Hawes brings you to what is a living museum piece with a kitchen range in the main bar, on which I am sure you can still make toast and bake bread in if you asked! The food, a shepherds pie and a beef baguette were both full of... More

My kind of pub - small cosy rooms, log fires, comfortable seats and well kept cider and beer. I hate theses modern, clinical, open plan, trendy bars and the Greeen Dragon is just the opposite - it's like going back to a time when pubs were pubs and everyone could relax and watch the world go by. We didn't eat... More

We visited on a snowy March midweek afternoon and were greeted by a roaring log fire and the stunning interior of this proper pub. We paid our dues to see the waterfall and returned for a shared pint. I handed over a tenner but got change from a fiver. I'd hoped it was a mistake but seeing the other reviews... More

Me and My husband hav stayed at the camp site attached to the pub several times. The sight is basic but nicely situated sand in easy access for the pub. The warm fires are idylic and excellent for warming yourself after a cold wet walk. The ale is fine. The drinks are a bit over priced. The food is general... More

Decided to make a large detour home to drop in having been here when i was a lot younger. It feels very unwelcoming but decided to stop for food and a drink. I ordered lasagne which was so small and burnt that i could literally pick the whole thing up between my thumb and index finger. I assume the owner... More

I am naturally so sorry that you had a bad experience at our Inn. We were away the day you mention and had left instructions that the kitchen staff just offer soup and sandwiches. Apparently a member of staff tried to please only to make a hash of things, this can happen from time to time despite sincere and good... More

Popped in for a drink after a long walk. Order two drinks - lime and soda came without ice and barely any fizz or lime. Next couple who came in asked for a coffee - no hot drinks. Asked for food (just after 2pm on a Saturday) - no food. No apology for either. Phone rang and local shouted 'go... More

I was appalled to read your review on our return form a brief holiday and immediately took the matter up with my barman. When asked why there was no ice his excuse was the machine had broken down, be that as it may he had no excuse for the other items you rightly criticize us for. We open for food... More

We stopped for a drink on route to Hardraw Force waterfall which is accessed via the Green Dragon. Possibly the darkest bar I've ever been in, with centuries of smoke having stained all the woodwork black! There are lots of banknotes pinned to the beams but they're all too balck to read now and I suspect the last refurbishment was... More

Spent the weekend as a party of around 20 in the rooms and bunk house and found the rooms less than average. Room was comfortable and clean enough, but there were only 3 cups in the place, yet it slept 5! And you had to boil the kettle on the floor as the lead was too short to use where... More

Found this a rather dark pub. Nice open fire, but think the owners were saving on electricity as it was rather dim inside and no outside light at front of the pub and no street lights nearby. We were in room 2 of the bunkhouse, which was clean,BUT very cold, even with the radiator on. As we opened the door... More

Stayed here with 8 other motorcycling ladies last November. We had Secure parking - ideal for 9 bikes. The staff even locked the access for us once we were all in! The staff were all friendly and helpful. We all had quite night's sleep - unusual for a Bunkhouse! Kitchen was clean and tidy, rooms were very clean and we... More
