Over-priced and over rated. Signature dish was too rustic, Black pudding & duck fois gras was over bearing and out of context and size. If the is a michelin star place the I would question this. Does not accomandate for families and both of my children where bad the next day with sickness. more

We stayed for one night in the Garden Shed, which was very conmfortable. Our problem was with the food, which was woefully below the standards of other Michelin-starred restaurants we've eaten in. My wife's lamb, while tender and pink, tasted of absolutely nothing but rosemary, while my 'hare pudding' didn't even have that to be said for it. The starters... more

Having heard great reviews of the food at the start inn - we booked and decided to stay the night. A huge mistake, this place is known for the food and it delivers. However, the accomodation is another matter. There was blood on the velvet bed throw, there were stains on the cushions and armchairs, and most unforgivably the bed... more

Stayed at the Star for one night, en-route to the Lake District. Only booked the previous week, and managed to get one of the last rooms. We stayed in a ground floor room 6 at Cross House Lodge. We arrived quite late in the afternoon and the welcome was warm, relaxed but professional and nothing seemed to be too much... more

At £150.00/night and attached to a Michelin-starred restaurant we thought this would be a wonderful place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. First of all, the hotel was not signposted from the road and when we managed to find someone in the restaurant to direct us, we were forwarded to a shop across the road who then forwarded us to the... more

We stayed at Cross House Lodge last week for 2 nights. We stayed in Room 8. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by reception and then shown to our room. The room was lovely, very spacious and decorated very tastefully (not too contemporary or too old-fashioned). Bathroom very nice also. Only criticism is the bedspread was a bit grubby... more

From the second we arrived at the Garden Shed we loved it. You almost don't want to add to the positive reviews as its so hard to get a booking here. But they deserve it. The staff were so welcoming - the hamper was excellent. Plenty of food supplied - the bacon & sausages etc delicious. There was EVERY thing... more

I decided to treat my boyfriend to a meal at the Star Inn for his 30th birthday. From all the good reviews I had read, I knew that we'd be in for a treat, but the Star Inn exceeded any expectations I had. The service was excellent and extremely friendly, the meals were lovely and well worth the money. The... more

The restaurant and hotel rooms are really lovely and the gardens are beautiful. However we were woken up at 6am by the kitchen staff , this wasn't just general kitchen noise, which would have been bad enough, the staff chatted in really loud voices about total rubbish. There is also some kind of generator that makes a loud banging noise... more

A gem of a place! I booked in for a night's stay with my boyfriend (be advised - book early!) and couldn;t believe how wonderful the place is. A picture perfect village, thatched roofs, michelin star food, fantastic wine selection, wonderful rooms.....etc etc. We're saving up to go back for a week! more
