As a long standing fan of the Angel at Hetton in North Yorkshire, we had long wanted to have the opportunity to visit the General Tarleton at Ferrensby but not been in the locality. This was addressed by a recent visit with friends for a weekend lunch. On arriving in the car park at around 12:30 I was concerned to note... More

having looked at the alacarte menu we were not impressed with the choices offered,we requested an alternative menu to be given a basic menu with no xmas food choices! when the food came the soup was luke warm, the fish undercooked to our liking, the venison was rare although we requested it be medium. We feel we had to compromise... More

Positives : Nice decor, friendly staff and good food. Negatives : Very little sleep due to the poor sound proofing and paper thin walls. Could clearly hear the conversation next door, snoring throughout the night, noisy bathroom fan and the creaky floorboards. Faint traffic noise from Room 8. The owners are aware of the problem; however I was informed there... More

Stayed two nights. Have eaten here before and the food continues to be good. Overall it is very comfortable and well run. The restaurant is pleasant and the lounge is very nice. The staff are all excellent. It is only a few minutes from the A1. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Knaresborough which is the local town is... More

We had lunch here about a week ago as we were going to a concert in Harrogate later that evening. We booked as late as we could at 1.45, and were shown to our table. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were very attentive. We ordered 2 glasses of wine whilst we studied the menu. We didn't order starters,... More

We have just enjoyed a relaxing & romantic stay. Couldn't fault the place even if you wanted. Lovely food beautifully presented. Great atmosphere & beautifully presented rooms. Friendly but professional staff with a warm welcome of complimenatary coffee & cake in the lounge. Homemade biscuits beautifully wrapped to enjoy with your coffee or tea in the bedrooms. The wine waiter's... More

We have just returned from one night Dinner Bed & Breakfast ,for the first time, on our way back from Scotland The visit was a great success, and we enjoyed every moment at the GT. The staff could not have been more pleasant and attentive, and the food just excellent - the bedroom ,Room 2, was very comfortable, at six... More

Stayed for 2 nights in this hotel and had a fantastic time-lovely welcome when we arrived, friendly staff and excellent service in the restaurant. The room was lovely-clean, warm, lovely décor, Molton Brown toiletries and big fluffy towels in the bathroom; ground coffee and cafetier plus delicious home made biscuits in the room was a lovely touch. The only suprise... More

Our room was most comfortable well appointed and clean. The staff from the minute we arrived to the moment we left could not have been kinder more thoughtful or helpful. We had been invited as guests to a pre wedding dinner where the food and wines were absolutely superb. The following morning we had breakfast in their bright roomy restaurant... More
