This was our first visit and can honestly say it will not be our last. From the moment we arrived and was greeted in Reception, to the time we had to leave, all the staff was extremely attentive, helpful and most courteous...nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spacious and had everything in it which we needed including a... More

This was our second visit as it is very conveniently located as a stopover when travelling from Scotland to London. Rooms are in a modern extension and are well sized and very comfortable complete with tea making facilities and home made biscuits. WiFi works well in the room too. The lounge is situated in the old stone walled part of... More

A quite fabulous place run by customer service professionals, and with a kitchen that makes it a piority stay anywhere in North or West Yorkshire. Rooms in the accomodation are all spotless and well appointed, the bar/pub atmosphere is genuine (unlike many off road hostelrys) and the restaurant is frankly superb. Prices should suit any business traveller in the region,... More

I visit here annually when at Harrogate show. It never fails to impress. This year white crab meat lasagne starter in chive buerre blanc - delicate and delicious. Fish pie for main. Treacle tart to finish. Beer and coffee £40. Not cheap but worth it. See you next year.

Lovely hotel see comments re shower everything else service and especially the food excellent close to local attractions and in a lovely part of the country. Very good value for money at the time we travelled so much so we booked another night stayed 2 rather than 1!

We stayed at the General Tarleton for 2 nights. This is our 3rd visit but it will not be our last. Once again the experience was an exceptional one, all the staff are welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and the food delicious. Special mention to Enzo and the team who work tirelessly to make the stay so good. The GT... More

We stayed the Saturday evening and had dinner and Sunday lunch. Our evening meal was very good and if we are being totally honest I and my friend both agreed that the option of peppercorn sauce for our steak would have been better than just the bernaise. Breakfast was good with plenty of options all cooked fresh with fruit options... More

We stayed at the General Tarleton for a friend's anniversary dinner. Everything about the hotel was 5 star. The decor in the hotel was quietly luxurious. The room was tastefully decorated and everything was to a high standard. There were nice little touches too - the complimentary homemade biscuits were fantastic and a small cafetiere for our morning coffee. The... More

The General Tarleton has clearly set its aims (good food...good value...good service and good rooms). I've been going for years (& my parents before me) and it never fails to reach all the above targets. Go again? Yes, again AND again.
