I stayed in this hotel with my fiance for his aunt's wedding on the 21st april 2007. It's in a quiet residential area and very close to the train station and town centre which is handy. Wortley House Hotel provides a welcome sight for the business traveller (like myself) who had to trudge the 250 metres from the railway station in a headlong wind and full of cold! Check-in was simple and efficient. Room was clean, spacious and recently refurbished as were the en-suite facilities. Restaurant was quiet but offered wholesome home cooking. We were booked into a twin room, but were given the key for a family room with a no smoking policy. We asked to be moved, but were informed, that due to a private function this was not possible, as the hotel was fully booked. The wortley is an OK hotel in Scunthorpe. Rooms are comfy and usually quite clean. Restaurant is rubbish (get a taxi to town) and the bar overpriced. Not the best location in Scunthorpe and not a walk to town either. A better bet is to stay in the Travel lodge just on the outskirts of the town centre. more
