My husband and I stayed in the club room, with its own private lounge. This is such a comfortable, welcoming hotel, in a beautiful house opposite the old school. Lots of nice touches, and the staff were so friendly. We got a great night's sleep, and were set up by a first class English breakfast. The hotel is beautifully furnished... More

This hotel/guest house is well worth a visit as is Uppingham itself - a very pretty village. The owner and staff are so friendly, the room clean and comfortable and an excellent breakfast. We would love to go for longer than the one night. Btw parking is at the back of Barclays Bank next door!

Really enjoyed my stay here last weekend. Very welcoming and great value for money. It's lovely to stay somewhere run by such friendly people who were keen to go out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay I hope to return soon!

So pleased I followed my friend's recommendation to stay at this wonderful family-run hotel when visiting last week. Right in the heart of the historic town, the hotel is opposite the impressive facade of Uppingham school but is beautiful in its own right. The entrance was easy to find and situated in a gorgeous little garden and the owner was... More

An exquisite example of what an independent hotel can be. The service was faultless and the room was ample and cleanliness excellent. Along with an impressive location in relation to uppingham a peaceful nights sleep was enjoyed by all and a return visit desired in the not too distant future.

The Garden Hotel is well Over priced. This really should be called a B&B. At £95 a night stay in a twin bedded room with old fashioned chip wall paper that's coming away from the wall, and a old green bathroom suit was shocking. Be warned that opposite is the school hall where wedding receptions take place so can be noisy.... More

It can be tough reviewing hotels for TA when only five miles away is Hambleton Hall which is one of the best hotels in the country so where do you start when reviewing the Garden Hotel which is somewhere between a quarter and a fifth of the nightly rate of its illustrious neighbour!? Well, even though it's like comparing apples... More

Lovely old building with lots of character. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly owner. We had one single and one twin room, both were very pleasant and clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast was very good. Really pretty garden that must be lovely to sit and relax in during the warmer months. We enjoyed our two night... More

We loved the character of the hotel immediately! Such a breath of fresh air from Premier Inn style hotels. In the summer I can imagine drinking Pimms in their gorgeous little cottage garden. Just lovely to get away from corporate style places. We stayed in the family room (room 7)as we had a 6yr and 8yr old. Super room, enough... More

The Garden Hotel is operated by extremely pleasant and helpful people, who during our stay of three nights in two rooms went well beyond the call of duty in all respects. The rooms are well-appointed, comfortable and spotless. There is a comfortable guest lounge and an excellent breakfast is provided. Its position in the town is ideal, close to restaurant(s),...
