I booked one night in this hotel as a stopover and to meet friends for dinner. I was offered the special DB&B rate that said was available from the Al a carte menu, when I rang to confirm this another person said it was only off the set menu and in which case it was cheaper to book the room... Fabulous place to stop off on a long walk , great food and hospitality and a great way to spend an afternoon before heading back out on the road, great thing about Lyddington is that you can get the Rutland Flyer which is a bit of a cheat but well worth it !!

This is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel and was almost a great place to stay, but the staff did not know the booking tariffs and did not call back as promised to confirm the booking. Having called to confirm that we did have a room the next member of staff tried to change the agreed tariff. When... More

My wife and I spent a night here on a trip from Oxfordshire up to the Yorkshire Moors, to break the journey and also to have a quick meet up with a brother of mine who lives very close to Rutland Water. We had a snack in the outside area as the weather was fine and ordered a few starters... More

We have been to the restaurant several times for an evening meal. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff very friendly and helpful. It's been so good to find somewhere that can accommodate my husbands gluten and dairy intolerances, yet still provide a menu that is tasty and inventive. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was excellent. We were given a nice table with plenty of room. The young waiter was helpful and efficient. I ordered the chicken liver parfait which had a hint of garlic and was very tasty. The steaks we ordered were cooked perfectly so were the mixed vegetables. We were too full for dessert! I will definitely go back.

Whether you want a quiet pint of a lunchtime, or abit of local atmosphere of an evening - this is an excellent pub - with all the range of beers, wines and spirits you'd need. You can snuggle by the fire of a winter's evening or mix/mingle with the friendly regulars - or hide away on the sofas with a... More

We were recommended to eat at this pub by Sue, owner of our farm bed and breakfast. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews, because we had a splendid meal and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We ordered drinks at the bar, where business seemed quiet for a Friday evening, and were shown into an area with a... More

Stayed here for one night (Saturday 9th August). Having booked a 'superior' room for £115 we were rather disappointed at how basic, shabby and dirty our room was (the carpets in particular are crying out for a deep clean). More like a basic 2* B&B than a 4* 'hotel'. If the rooms had been priced correctly (eg, £65 per room... More
