This friendly, well-run little family hotel would make a perfect stopping place for a mid-week break but suffers quite badly on Friday and Saturday nights from being on the main road and in close proximity to two nightclubs. The bedroom we stayed in on the second floor was lovely with a good sized double and a single bed and didn't... More

Value for money, clean but tired small rooms. You can hear your neighbours and the plumbing gurgles when other guests run their taps.... but you get what you pay for. We had to go to the Wetherspoons for breakfast and the evening meal. We wanted a couple of drinks after a walk around s few other pubs but last orders... More

My surname is Ashby, and I was compelled to see the market town bearing my name. The castle is famous for being mentioned in "Ivanhoe"' and the reviews about the pub/hotel were correct. The room was at the top of the old coach house, up two steep flights , and there was no close parking. So no suitcase up the... More

The rooms are situated above a pub which on a Wednesday night was very very quiet despite England playing Scotland. On check in you are presented with a TV remote control and keypad numbers to get in your room. No mention was made of breakfast times or what was on offer. Stayed in a twin room which was clean enough... More

I booked in at the Queens head hotel for a 2 night stay for the local(ish) download festival. On the queens head site it advertises parking in a nearby pay and display car park, bed and BREAKFAST at £26.50 a night, with shared showers. I arrived at the queens head for check in time (which was supposed to be from 12:00pm,and i... More

Stopped here for one night (Sat) for an office night out. Rooms have recently been decorated and the beds were comfortable. I opted to stay in a shared facilities room, £27.50. Didn't mind as my friend was in a nearby room so at least I knew who I shared the facilities with. The hotel is a complete non-smoking, however this... More

I have stayed here twice for location reasons but would not do so again. This hotel is worn out and in need of some drastic attention. The beds are hard and very creaky when you move at night. A lot of the rooms are shared facilities and we happened to get one of the en suites. The shower is small... More

Stopped over while the fair was in Town. Fantastic night, Ashby is a great place with plenty of restaurants and bars. The Queens Head is right on the main street of the town so lots going on. 5 minutes walking to the castle or leisure centre. Staff were brilliant and place clean and tidy. Great atmosphere.

Ashby is a little town with not much to see, but queen's head hotel is right in the citycentre on the "main street" 5 minutes walinking from the castle and from Ashby school is a nice place to stay. We found it's very clean and pretty. A misunderstandin on the booking site though, made us booking a room more than... More

The Queen's hotel grew on me. We had a shakey start---the double room we had booked had had damage done to it by the previous occupants, so we were allocated a twin, and then after I had a shower (just after we moved in) I could not get the shower to turn off; after a short while we were told... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A family run hotel close to m42, East Midlands airport is approximately 20 minutes away by car. There are many local tourist attractions like Ashby Castle, Twycross zoo, Conkers, Snowdome and Drayton manor park WITHIN APPROX 1/2 HOUR DRIVE. We have two bars and a night club on site which are open every weekend until 2 am and open even later when we have special events on. Due to the fact we are situated on the high street it can be a very noisy venue over the weekend so please bear this in mind. We do not have any disabled facilities and all rooms are on the 1st and second floor so please be aware of this if you wish to stay.
