We stayed at the Inn at Whitewell recently. Thank goodness we had not seen the churlish and somewhat bitter review posted by adt427. Contrary to what is described, we could not have had a more delightful and relaxing stay. It is just like walking into an English country home. As soon as you arrive you feel a sense of warmth... more

Attended a wedding here this summer and it was very mediocre in all aspects. Attitude of staff was basically if you dont like it we dont care as we are the Inn at Whitewell and we are the best. Reception on arrival was frosty and unwelcoming, pointing out that our rooms werent available for at least another 20 minutes. Service at... more

An overnight stop on the way from wedding to honeymoon, the Inn managed to keep the wedding spirit and rest us, ready for the honeymoon. Wonderful place. Coming back more

We have just returned from only one night at The Inn at Whitewell. We wished we could have stayed longer. Obviously we saw it at its best - a fantastic sunny Sunday afternoon. The countryside around it is superb, as the view from its terrace demonstrates - what a perfect view to encapsulate what British countryside is - green fields... more

We stayed at this inn for one night in early March having read a number of excellent reviews and were tempted by the thought of having a proper fire in the room. First impressions were not encouraging, the hotel goes out of its way to stress that the staff are welcoming, someone however forgot to tell the receptionist who seemed... more

The Inn is in a nice setting next to the river in amongst the fells. Food is exelllent with nice varied dishes. The rooms are comfortable although beware, room no.2 only has a half bath, a sort of quirky deep tub with a seat in built. Not as relaxing as a full bath. The hotel is very relaxing with nice... more

We actually held our wedding ceremony and reception at the hotel, in the Orangery....What an amazing experience! This was our third trip to the Inn, and our second overnight stay. It has become our absolute favourite place. Whether visiting for a lunchtime snack, or indulging in an evening meal, you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere quite so 'English'. Locally... more

For once an establishment that gets everything just right with seemingly no effort. (Although I'm sure a great deal goes in behind the scenes) There is a real mix of people in the bar with outfits ranging from Barbour’s and muddy Labradours to cocktail dresses and suits. Lots of room to laze about in front of the many roaring log... more

I have visited this hotel over the last three years, mainly for meals, but did also stay in the suite in March 2007. The food and service is excellent (aside from one receptionist who is a bit abrupt). The food is freshly cooked to order and uses locally sourced ingredients such as Goosnargh chicken. For us the best things are... more

This is a perfect hotel for a short break. It is warm, welcoming, comfortable, a bit quirky (but is a really good way), the food is outstanding, the location perfect ... We stayed on a damp November evening. The booking and reception were excellent, we were made to feel very welcome, even with two damp labradors in tow! The room... more
