Stayed here with partner and two dogs for a pre Christmas getaway and to do some walking in the Forest of Bowland. Beautiful position on the bank of the river Hodder. It was a gloomy wet day when we arrived but the sight of three crackling fires in the large bar immediately warmed our bodies and hearts. Front facing bedroom... more

Visit the Inn at Whitewell and you are suddenly so relaxed that you have forgotten all that went before you. Nothing could be more descriptive than the Inns own promotional leaflet: ' We aim to offer a relaxed and friendly service , avoiding too much flippery, devoid of snobbery but hopefully providing an experience that is deeply relevent, very enjoyable... more

Very popular eating place in a beautiful location. Good atmosphere and excellent , friendly service. Room 23 situated approx 100yds from hotel and not well lit at night. Room large and well furnished except couldnt hang clothes in the wardrobe - too short. 1905 bath was badly marked and too high for my mother to get into for a bath... more

I stayed at the Inn at Whitwell as life if too short to stay in faceless chain hotels... especially those in Preston. What a fabulous haven ... great food, rooms, open fires, history, countryside, a good pint of beer, a wine shop and a free wireless internet connection. As a business man travelling alone I could not ask for anything... more

We stayed here for our 1st night of our honeymoon, we got a room with a river view. The bedroom was very large, with a seating area/massive bed, table and cosy chairs. The room was so clean and the views were stunning. We had a meal in the restaurant which we would definetley reccommend as the food and the service... more

Stayed here for two nights with my husband. Lovely period rooms, fantastic bar food. We ate in the restaurant one night and the bar the next. To be honest the food is that good in the bar you don't really need to eat in the restaurant. The pub part at lunchtime get very busy. However the Inn is in a... more

From the majority of these reviews the potential visitor will gather that this is really quite a special place. We arrived for lunch, which was excellent, and taken on the terrace which enjoys a stunning location; overlooking the river and hills beyond. We thought the decor, ambience and service was first rate. Dinner in the bar (as opposed to the... more

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Inn At Whitewell. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and booked the room on a whim at short notice. It really is a stunning place to stay, the weather was very kind to us on Sunday so after an excellent walk we took our drinks out onto the patio... more
