Booked a meal for New Year's Eve 2013 based on the same event in 2012. What a difference! Unlike the previous year, the music was very noisy and the food was poor quality. The main course of lamb was inedible and did not taste like British (possibly bought from Makro!) With any restaurant, especially at such a lovely venue, the... More

We have been visiting the restaurant in our local Pines Hotel since 1965 when we were youngsters, now retired with grandchildren we still enjoy visiting thanks to Betty Duffins personal attention to quality and service. Our 3 course sunday dinner for 8 adults and 2 children was absolutely superb and served in the 'Molyneux' suite that felt like a private... More

First positive point - all staff, aside from the owner, came across helpful and polite.Terrible service from the owner! I took my Mother here for afternoon tea on Saturday 05/04. I had initially booked the tea for two people when I made the reservation, however my brother later advised that he wanted to come along with us. I called the... More

Have just returned from a 2 night KGB deal. Our room was lovely with a sofa as well as twin beds. The décor might need a little updating as the wallpaper was coming off the walls in places and when you opened the windows the catch banged all the time .I could have done with a step as the beds... We visited The Pines for the Diane Shaw Cabaret last night and had a very enjoyable evening. The 3 course meal was hot and served well by the friendly staff. The food was excellent and good value as part of the overall package for £30 which included the entertainment.

Went for a retirement function, the set menu was inappropriate for the event, which after the organiser had voiced their opinion to the staff, was changed. However the service was poor, the staff were very friendly, but sadly there wasn't enough of them. The food when we got it was very good with hot plates, a personal must, but we had to ask... More

Four of us have recently returned from the Pines after a weekend break. The hotel is an extension of a Victorian house set in sizeable grounds and it boasts a garden area that has won Britain in Bloom for the last six years. The staff are very friendly and obliging in all departments. The rooms are comfortable and have everything... More
