I stayed at this hotel many years ago whilst working on a travelling sales team and I shared a room with one of my colleagues. Things kept going missing and reappearing a day or so later, one night we went out to the pub and when we returned the window was wide open. One night I woke up and briefly... More

I travelled from Glasgow to Burnley in search of the famous Keirby Park Halibut breakfast, and my expectations were surpassed. A side order of Dragon fruit with a raspberry jus gave me the perfect start to explore what I discovered was one of Britains finest cities.

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels during my project to photograph every townhall in Britain. This is by far and away the absolute worst of the lot. For starters, your hands stick to the front door and the lobby smells like a tramps jockstrap. The complimentary mints on reception are mouldy and the staff literally threw the room key across... I took my girlfriend to the Keirby Hotel for a romantic night away. I wanted some time together so we could cuddle on the mattress and just think about our good times together. To my absolute horror, the hotel was not what I had expected. The carpets were filthy, there was no heating and the sheets were stained. My night... More

If a hotel had been abandoned, all the fixtures stripped, and then occupied by squatters who were then advertising it as a working hotel, you'd have the Keirby Park Hotel. No toilet paper, no soap, no television, no phone, no hot water. Filthy. Broken windows- and by broken, I mean the glass.

If you're accustomed to Travelodge, Premier Inns, etc as a minimum benchmark standard then maybe this place isn't for you. It is definitely in need of some TLC and refurbishment and it does have obvious signs of wear and tear in the rooms but it isn't so bad for what you pay... It's not the kind of place you would...
