I stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms - could still smell the paint! - and it was beautiful. I asked for a quiet room in my booking form and was put right at the top of the hotel where it was really quiet. The route from the rooms back to reception is a bit confusing and could do... More

We stayed one night in this hotel in what, I presume, was one of their refurbished rooms. It was clean comfortable and pleasently decorated. The bathroom was a good size and everything worked well. Breakfast the next morning was, as other reviewers to have said, excellent. The service was pleasant and efficient and the tables well spaced. The dining room... More

We stayed for 2 nights on the 4/5/12, we had a refurbished room, staff very friendly, lovely rustic pub, great food, could not fault our stay, would love to go back when the refurbishment has been completed through out, walking distance to harbour from hotel, Castle tea rooms about 5 min walk away a must - lovely cream tea ! we stayed at the Marine for one night over the bank holiday weekend. After initially booking incorrectly the manager James was so helpful and understanding and managed to organise a room. We often go to Whitstable and had noticed that the Marine looked slightly tired. The owners have now undertaken a massive refurbishment of the hotel and we were amazed... More

My friend and I stayed here for one night. I was concerned about the mixed reviews it had received but went with the thought in mind that it wouldn't be 5 star quality and to be open minded. Parking was really easy, so a good start. Our rooms were ready early, so another plus point. The reception was very friendly... More

I always stay at The Marine when visiting family and just accepted it for what it is, or rather what it was, because it is getting better. The new manager is like a breath of fresh air, the staff this trip were so much more friendly and made me feel more like a guest and less like an intruder. True... More

We were a little wary of this hotel because of some previous reviews. There is no doubt that the certain parts of the hotel, the entrance and bar areas are a bit tired looking but the hotel is undergoing refurbishment so you would expect this. The restaurant area is fresh and modern and we booked a sea front room which... More

we booked for one night here based on reviews from here and were slightly dubious as it had mixed reviews so we were pleasantly surprised by the room (superior) which was clean and in good order. The hotel itself is being renovated which is not a bad thing. The food was good and honest and the staff were friendly and... More

This hotel is one to miss. We paid £92.50. for one night in January. It was cold in the rooms, the carpets were stained, we rejected our first room, it was small filthy, smelly and cold. They moved us to another room, which was bigger, but, was filthy, cold and smelly, with dirty carpets, I threw my socks away. The... More
