We stayed at the Duke for the weekend, arriving Friday evening. The staff were all very welcoming. We had two large room overlooking the High St. Both rooms were large airy, very clean, with everything we needed. We loved the quirky little extras like the retro games and books, brought back some childhood memories.although didn't have time to play any,... More

Stayed here a couple of times. Accommodation basic but lovely atmosphere and food is excellent. Can be a bit noisy from the pub below but that is to be expected. Restaurant at the back is great - lovely staff and novel way of serving food. No menu but you are given 4-5 dishes to choose a selection from. Same with... More

The quality of service depends on different members of staff ! first day of our stay we were shocked with the behaviour of the cook , after calmly mentioning to the waitress that I didn't trust the look of one egg ( it is always possible in any restaurant that something could be off , that happens and that isn't... Had a great time at this pub over the Easter weekend in a great location minutes from the beach & on the High Street. The pub is very popular for live music & has a great atmosphere. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble. As it was such a busy weekend our room was not quite... More

I stayed here with my partner for a weekend getaway. The building is in a great location, room was rather shabby and run down. The most disappointing thing I found was the attitude of the staff. I was ignored at the bar and when I finally was served it was by rude, arrogant bar staff. I would not stay here... More

A real pub atmosphere and wonderful staff. We stayed overnight in a very cosy room and had a great English breakfast the next morning. We had fantastic lunch in the restaurant next door which is connected to The Duke. Whitstable is a very pretty town with lots of quaint shops and the beach is only a few yards from the... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here last weekend and it was a great choice in the heart of Whitstable. The room we had was cosy and homely and had a view right up the high street. We were in Whitstable for a gig - at the Duke of Cumberland, in fact - so what better place to stay?! As it... More

This is the second time we have stayed here and it's perfect location in the centre of Whitstable and helpful friendly staff make a place we will go again. And for the morning after the night before a great breakfast is served in the morning. For the money I could not recommend highly enough..

This is a pub with rooms - clean and comfy, really helpful staff. The breakfasts were amazing, as a vegetarian, I had squash, aubergine, courgettes and sautéed potatoes served with my English breakfast. Be prepared as its on the high St it can be a bit noisy at night.

6 members of my family stayed here for a weekend. The Duke of Cumberland is a pub and the rooms are above the pub. All the rooms was clean, well appointed and comfortable. The cost was very reasonable as well. The pub is very centrally located in Whitstable. The breakfast was huge and very tasty. We would all stay here... More
