We were recommended The Duke of Cumberland by friends. We weren't disappointed. you should book in advance as it is very popular .We were a party of 8 and we had a dog. Its a very busy place. We had the choice of 3 meats or fish. They brought the food out and put it in the middle of the... More

Arrived in Whitstable without booking - you can't really when you are cycling round the coast and don't quite know where you will get to ! Anyway - thankfully we found the Duke of Cumberland. Marvellous place and great hosts AND the best breakfast we have had by far on our coastal extravaganza. Oh and lovely floral beer garden !... More

We had lunch here when we arrived in Whitstable. We both had fish and chips which were delicious and my husband enjoyed a couple of pints of a Shepherd Neame beer. It`s so refreshing to find a pub with so much original character as opposed to those that have had a makeover. There`s a wonderful collection of wirelesses as well... More

Booked by 'phone with Lara and paid half the cost, as a deposit, by card. Stayed during the busiest weekend in Whitstable's calendar: The Oyster Festival. Arrived to a packed bar (as the bad weather had driven attendees of the festival indoors). A warm welcome from Kelly and an upgrade on-the-spot from the bar-manager. Stayed in room number one which... More

We came as a couple of adults as our son was away so we were keen to enjoy the Duke as the first class music venue that it is. We were not disappointed with Whitstable which has to be on of my new favourite places in the world but the Duke provided an excellent base in the centre of town.... More

This was our 2nd visit to the Duke of Cumberland and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Good location - especially handy as we were eating at Wheelers. A nice room and once again a fabulous breakfast.

Overall enjoyed our one night stay at the Duke, the common areas are clean and interesting (great artwork), the room was good and the breakfast was excellent. It is also in a central location so position is good (you can walk to everything you need to see if you want to get a sense of the town and take in... More

We stayed in one of the large rooms, light and airy with the biggest TV I've ever seen. Fairly clean with a slightly shabby feel. It was a Saturday night and so the drinkers below were to be expected, didn't cause us much of a problem though. The breakfast next morning was fantastic, especially the vegetarian option which was made... More

We stayed at the Duke for the weekend, arriving Friday evening. The staff were all very welcoming. We had two large room overlooking the High St. Both rooms were large airy, very clean, with everything we needed. We loved the quirky little extras like the retro games and books, brought back some childhood memories.although didn't have time to play any,... More

Stayed here a couple of times. Accommodation basic but lovely atmosphere and food is excellent. Can be a bit noisy from the pub below but that is to be expected. Restaurant at the back is great - lovely staff and novel way of serving food. No menu but you are given 4-5 dishes to choose a selection from. Same with... More
