We stayed at the Walpole after visiting the nearby Ambrette Restaurant and both were wonderful. I find it hard to believe that anyone would choose a faceless chain hotel over this quirky gem of a place. The staff were efficient and friendly without exception and the hotel whilst being clean and comfortable, has to be seen to be believed. It... More

The Walpole Bay Hotel in Margate is a delight, from first sight of it across the bowling green to the outside veranda and into to its wonderful interior. The staff are charming, especially Jane, who presides with grace and beauty over everything. My room was great. They were very amenable when my double occupancy turned into single. The meals were... We've just spent 2 nights at the Walpole Bay Hotel. It's everything it claims to be with added old world charm & service. Perfect for the new art gallery and as a base for exploring the area.

We stopped in the Walpole Bay Hotel for one night when we came to Margate to visit the Turner Gallery which is a short walk along the front from the hotel. We had a very warm welcome from Jane the owner. the hotel was opened in 1912 and tries to replicate this experience. It has its own museum with lots... More

We stayed at the Walpole (13-15th April 2012) with our 2 boys and another couple with their 2 girls and had the best time. Our family room (207/208) was perfect since it had the bathroom between the two rooms and interconnecting doors. All was clean and furniture in the room was 1930s style. Views out to sea. Enjoyed the amazingly... More

The hotel is certainly original and characterful. The twin room was clean and well-appointed. The management clearly have achieved much in turning round the hotel after they took it over. We were part of a group who had ordered a buffet for our evening meal. This was a great disappointment and was distinctly unimaginative. I have had many buffets over... More

We decided to visit the Walpole Hotel today, Good Friday. After researching it and watching the you tube video, we thought it would be just right for myself, my husband and our 3 children. I must say we were all very excited. We were going to eat then look around the museum. We arrived at lunch time, the hotel was... More
