We stayed in room 1 and were really pleased with the room and breakfast. Top quality finish and service. Lots of choice with breakfast, including vegi options. The bathroom was enormous and the REN toiletries are a nice touch. Maybe that the square could be a bit noisy at the weekends though.

We stayed in room 3 on the top floor with views over tree tops, chimneys and out to the sea. A beautifully styled room, with plently of space a giant bathroom room with a roll top bath that fits two ! REN bath products and a wide range of teas in the room room were a lovely touch. I was... More

Our weekend away was my birthday present; we book fabulous places for weekends as presents for each other rather than possessions. The Reading Rooms is a lovely place. Our room was gorgeous. Breakfast in the room was a nice touch although not always easy to decide the day before what time you want breakfast. BUT... We were woken both nights... More

This has to be the only place to stay in Margate if you want somewhere sophisticated and just a little walk up the hill from the action on the seafront. Beautiful. Enormous rooms, fabulous bathrooms. There are also restaurants in walking distance, including The Abrette.

We stayed here for a couple of nights last week and had a fantastic time. Despite all three rooms being occupied there was no noise from the other residents. Mind you, we were on the top floor so hopefully our footsteps on the stairs and floorboards did not cause too much disruption below! The room was peaceful and calming, the... More

Just stayed for a mid week night in The Reading Rooms and would highly recommend it. Gorgeous room (top floor, room three), beautiful decoration, huge comfortable bed, stunning bathroom with roll top bath (and Ren goodies) and quite possibly the most delicious breakfast we've ever eaten. A bonus to there not being a dining room is that breakfast is served... More

Real relaxation and decadence. Very comfortable rooms, tasteful decor, huge bed and bathroom - a wow room for sure. Breakfast is another wow. Nothing but positives about The Reading Rooms, Margate however isn't quite so breathtaking. The old town has a great vibe, retro all the way but elsewhere has a weird menacing undertone.

It's been called a diamond in the rough elsewhere, and that's spot on - a beautiful building, restored in artfully boho distressed fashion, and an enviable setting. Our room came with quality extras in the toiletries and refreshments departments, a huge bed, and a giant bathroom with luxury fittings. Memorable accommodation, and the breakfast was undoubtedly superb - but for... More

There's no doubt that Margate is on the up and it's five star B&Bs like The Reading Rooms that are setting the trend far more effectively than the overhyped Turner Contemporary gallery. With just three rooms decorated in a 'shabby chic' style, it's more like staying in someone's very tasteful home, particularly as each room occupies an entire floor. Unusually,... More

After reading all of the other reviews, I found it hard to believe that this place could be as good as it was made out to be.......and it wasn't - the loo roll was on the wrong way round on the holder and "muesli" was spelled wrongly on the breakfast menu ...AND a seagull poo'd on my car parked outside!...
