A very typical English Village with a corresponding typical Inn. Well located for the Channel Tunnel just ten minutes away. Rooms comfortable and roomy. Good atmosphere in the bar and in the adjacent restaurant.Good garden facilities when the weather is good ( which is was when I was there) (but why in Good English pubs do they have these dreadful... We stayed here for one night before staying somewhere else (pre-planed). The rooms aren't the latest and greatest - however they are comfortable, usable and clean. We quickly checked in and then shot back out again, so we didn't use the room until 10/11pm, of which we had no issues accessing our room when we got there (On a sunday... More

I pre booked for fathers day for their sunday carvery. As it stated on the menu the carvery was "all you can eat" a few members of our table only got a small portion on their first trip. When they went up for some more, they were told very rudely by the lady serving they couldnt have certain things from... More

We have had to rub out the 'all you can eat' from our blackboard due to a very small percentage of customers who have treated this as a challenge!! We now say that seconds are available subject to availability. On Sundays the joints go in the oven in the morning and all veg and roasties are freshly prepared (i:e when... More

Stopped here for lunch. Tuna sweet corn sandwich came on supermarket brown bread with a few crisps and small salad garnish. Fresh and tasty but overpriced at 5quid +. Hubby had omelette, delicious and good value, wish I'd had same. Would come again but choose wisely after asking.

Our bread is supplied by 'Delice de France' who do have a very good reputation for quality. Our food is freshly prepared and comments are regularly received that our portion sizes represent good value for money. I am pleased you enjoyed the omelette!! More

Great hotel for what we needed. Free parking. Good sized room, towels and toiletries included in room plus tea/coffee facilities. super soft bed and pillows. Breakfast included :) cute dog rufus. Friendly staff. Just wished they served food earlier than 730pm.

Stayed in twin room for one night last weekend. Very smelly hallway and star area leading to the rooms, hotel tried to mask it with pungent air freshener. Room was clean and basic but the bathroom floor has clearly not been cleaned for a while and there was orange mould on the shower tiles, another clear sign it had not... More

We had a one night break on Groupon - so that we could revisit where we first started married life back in the 60's at Ashford. The room was clean and overlooked the village green. Unfortunately there seemed to be a bit of merriment going on outside in the evening but with the window shut we were able to watch... More

Spent just one night in the hotel. Clean, comfortable and an excellent English breakfast. The log fire in the bar was fantastic. Central location for sightseeing. Lots of military history in the surrounding areas.

After reading the bad experiences have had at this hotel we were a bit worried about our stay last Saturday. However, we was pleasantly surprised! We actually found this hotel on Wowcher and only paid £20 a night for the room. This place is lovely. The staff cannot do enough for you. Yes, the rooms are basic. But what more... More

I booked the castle for me and my partner for valentines night, I didn't know what to expect as I've never stayed in a pub/hotel combination before. My surprise was certainly a pleasant one, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and our needs were catered for at every instance. The rooms were very clean and the bed so comfortable,... More
