The building is quite a sight to behold and the green course surrounding the hotel is wonderful. However, this hotel is in dire need of a refurb. The room we were given (220) is something out of the 1920's with its extremely old yellow floral wallpaper and horrible furniture (dont even get me started on the matching bed canopy!). The... More

I spent 5 days here at the end of May with a friend who has to use a mobility-scooter. Her ground-floor "disabled" room was reached along a corridor, then up a step via a ramp, at the top of which was a door that opened towards her (impossible to open if you're on a scooter or in a wheelchair!) The... More

I'd read some bad reviews and some good, so was slightly apprehensive about our stay but it was a lovely hotel with friendly staff, a beautiful room with country views and lovely spa facilities. Couldn't have asked for more

An imposing Victorian hotel in a wonderful position overlooking the sea and we really enjoyed our three night stay even though there were plenty of points to pick up on. We had a lovely spacious room with comfortable beds and a sea view - strangely hot but OK with the windows open. Pleasant décor but tired and plenty of evidence... More

Chose this hotel due to the proximity of the channel tunnel (10 minutes) and that they take dogs. Arrived late and left early but no complaints. Nice grounds and a few metres from the beach to exercise the dog. Friendly helpful staff and above average breakfast. Extremely comfortable room and bed although as some have pointed out a little tired... More

due to attending a course in folkestone for two weeks i decided to fore go the advised premier inn and stay at the mercure in hythe. the property itself is a grand victorian(?) hotel with sweeping staircases, high ceilings and rooms with floors that run away. my booking for the 1st week said I was to have "an ocean view"... We recently stayed over night, we had been purchased this as a gift and had our reservations about what to expect after looking at some of the reviews. I have to say they were totally unfounded! On arrival the young lady on reception was very friendly and gave us all the info we needed and directed us to the spa... More

My husband and I stayed for just one night. Our room was very tired but at least we had a sea view. The bar area was very dirty, the floor and the old torn bar. We had to ask the barman to clear our table from previous customer, which he reluctantly did. We did not stay there for dinner, but... More

Stayed for one night for a wedding. Room was very small and decor is tired. We were travelling with our one year old and having the travel cot in our room made it feel even smaller. The genius who allocated our room put us above the front entrance and next to an internal fire door which banged every time someone... More

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. We were looking forward to a relaxed weekend staying in the UK and this very nearly ruined it. To list a few of the problems (which we did raise with management at the time and got a very disinterested response): - room was not clean; it was dusty with previous... More
