At the last minute we had to find somewhere to stay near Dover and everywhere that took dogs except The Swan in Hythe was full. 1 room left and with great trepidation we took it for 83 pounds excluding breakfast. It was a Bank Holiday weekend. First the good things. The room was surprisingly clean, comfortable beds and helpful and... More

As others have mentioned, from the cold to luke warm showers, to the shabby interior…… just don't go there, its horrible. Thumping music till midnight, doors banging to all hours ( the walls are thin ) and at 8 in the morning a carpenter repairing the bar door hammering away……. not a pleasant stay in anyway

I booked this hotel back before the recent poor reviews surfaced - I wish I had cancelled before arriving. But I WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree with the 1 out of five rating Had planned to stay for longer but the place was filthy.... And after dinner and a couple of beers I had no choice but to stay one night as... More

I've marked it "average" - but if there was a category between "poor" and "average" that would be it! First impressions: Poor reception (although I believe the language barrier had more than a little to do with this). Although I have a reasonably simple name, the poor chap could not find it in his old-fashioned reservations book. It took 15... More

Shocking management, filthy hotel expect an argument when you mention it. Don't be fooled by the few good reviews they are from before the new owners took over. Sticky banisters ,dirty carpets oh and you'll need a car to get to breakfast as its in another hotel the other side of town. Disgraceful !

We booked two nights there to visit the light railway in July. The new management do not seem to cope and to put things right: our rooms (7 & 8) were in a very poor state with filthy carpets, missing bulbs, torn curtains... Hot water was not available and supposed to be repaired the next morning. Room 7 was never... More

Hotmail looked cheerful but cheap on arrival. Staff had no idea about our internet booking but dealt with it after a ten minute wait. We then checked in to our large but poorly equipped room to have what proved to be a totally useless shower and then went down to the bar for a few drinks.. Within 5 minutes of... More

Arrived in carpark, with litter and cigarette ends strewn around. Had booked a twin room, which was supposed to have TV and WIFI and had neither. The room felt very grubby, the carpet was filthy and hadn't been vacuumed and there was dust and dirt everywhere. Two lights didn't work, the main one in the bedroom and the light over... More

When arriving in the small car park at the back, with ripped bin bags and food laying all over it, our expectations wasn't high. Had 2 double rooms booked, first room , sloping floor, where the bed is, mattress was very soft, while the bedding was clean, we noticed the actual pillow had stains on it. TV even though it... More

We arrived to find the hotel staff standing chatting and had to call them to let us check in. We then had about 10 minutes of confusion as they couldn't find our details, before we were told our room wasn't ready yet, and we had to wait. We were then told we hadn't paid yet despite having booked for advance... More
