Stayed for a night for the Gillingham v Stockport football match the match was awful hardly the fault of the hotel . I booked a single but was delighted to see I had been allocated a double which I might add was spotless and contained all the facilities I needed tv kettle tea coffee and the bed was very comfortable. After the match I walked back to the hotel and was delighted to see the well stocked bar was still open pleasantly serving really reasonably priced drinks . The breakfast also gets a big thumbs up great choice and plenty of options.all in all a brief but enjoyable stay and if I ever visit Gillingham again I wouldn’t hesitate to rebook this hotel .

So I arrived at The King Charles Hotel with my friend as I wasn’t sure where it was and as we walked into the reception the receptionist said “you know you have booked a room for one” not welcome to the King Charles Hotel? I replied yes off course, we walked up to the room where I got changed and we went straight out? I arrived back at about 8pm and had a shower and went straight to bed At about 8.30 I woke up and went to the restaurant for breakfast, my order was taken and I waited for the food to arrive, when it arrived it looked like it had been sat on the side for a while as the beans looked congealed, the hash brown looked inedible. I left my food and went up to the room, I had a shower and as I got out the shower I plugged my mobile phone in as I had i busy day, as I plugged in the charger I noticed the plug being held together with sellotape and dusty it was so I then started to look around the room, every skirting board was dusty, the walls were mouldy the window sills were filthy and the fan in the shower was filthy, the carpet under the bed was messy to? I left the room as I was going to a funeral so I certainly wasn’t in right frame of mind to complain and I shouldnt have had to? I phoned the hotel the next day and spoke to someone who gave me an email address but found out 1 month later they had given me the wrong email address, so i resent the email address to receive a reply 2 weeks later with basically excuses, the breakfast is complimentary where it says on the website breakfast included and the head housekeeper has sent there apologies? Then was told that the hotel inspector gave them a 4* well they certainly didn’t look at my damp and mouldy room Then the next insult they offered my 25% refund as a gesture of good will, I honestly don’t know what they are looking at when I sent the photos? I re sent the photos just incase the photos got lost in the email giving them another view if the room and food?

Really good value for the money. Looked a bit shabby when we pulled up but once inside it is clean, very nice lady on reception let us check in early as room was ready. All staff were friendly. Room clean, bed comfy, room was a bit hot but we turned the radiator off. Evening meal and breakfast were ok, usual offerings. Still good value for the price we paid. Would definitely stay here again if we came back to the area, it is really close to the Glassbox theatre and the events there.

If you're visiting the Medway area, the King Charlie's hotel is an excellent base from which to explore. It's excellent value, friendly, clean and resourced for your stay. I'm also inclined to agree with the hotel's blurb, this is a family run hotel who provide a personal service. Breakfast was good, the bed comfy, with the room having all the needed mod cons for a perfect stay. The hotel even has a loyalty card if you book with them direct; after a number of stays, you get a free night - what's not to like about that?!? Go on, give the King Charles a go.

Very dated but clean, beds are really comfortable. Breakfast is included in the price and carpark is free. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Checking in at 2 am is not an issue. Lots of work needed but don't let it put you off.

Wouldn't stay ever again, rooms have mould! My room and another family members room both had mould. Also had a function room booked which was also really dirty, with dust and cobwebs! Tried to get a refund but the hotel would only give 20% which was a pathetic amount.

My first visit here and having read reviews before travelling I was fully prepared with my expectations. Yes dated and in need of renovation/modernisation but reasonably priced accommodation in a convenient location. Staff all very helpful and friendly. It does what it says on the tin!

Booked in for four nights to visit local area, so hotel well situated for that. From the outside and anticancer we were a little concerned with what we would find inside. Mostly overgrown shrubbery and broken tarmac drive way into the carpark. The building does not look very inviting with plainnets at the windows and drab pinkish e terror walls. But free parking is a bonus these days. The hotel interior boasts lots of facilities, but like the outside, the interior is in much need of refurbishment and upgrading. Especially in the rooms. Quite spacious and clean, but need redecorating and a lot of TLC. Mastic, tiling, bathrooms need lots of work. The bar, restaurant were all well staffed with pleasant friendly staff. The menu was reasonable, but portions a bit sparing, although there is specials each day. The free breakfast each morning was really excellent and cooked very quickly. Having said all of that, they must be doing something right because it was very busy, even with a coach of visitors from Holland and another from Austria for a few days each. We would come back because it was clean, comfortable and value for money.
