We had lunch here, a bit of a mess when you walk in but they had had a flood and were waiting for it to completely dry out before they can finish. Friendly waitresses and excellent service. Food was great all cooked to order and well presented .

I went here on a visit for the day to see my Mother in law with the family and being august every where was busy x we managed to get a table for a meal. The place was quite but started to fill up. The staff were very polite and the pub had some interesting things on display. The food... More

Has the Fire Brigade actually inspected this place ? We sat, alone in the pub, (apart from a toothless elderly lady drinking herself to death at the bar) which was probably the first tell tale sign, when my eyes were drawn to the ceiling. The entire back of the pub ceiling was a mass of plywood hastily and hap hazardly... More

Hello As you have said the ceiling is temporary plyboard and the carpet is missing, i totally agree my beautiful pub looks awful at the moment. We had huge leak a couple of days before which brought down the ceiling and destroyed the carpet, my sofas tables and chairs. What you saw is what i have managed to put together... More

Shame on me for not doing research on this B&B. Needed a night's stay and Port Arms just so happen to have accommodations for 80-sterling. Things were off to a great start, a spacious, smartly decorated room with a beautiful view of the channel, however it was downhill after that. The owner did mention our room was above the pub... Food was good, service was poor. Lunch arrived on a lump of wood, totally pointless, it is the quality of food that matters, not the presentation on a chopping board. Better served on a china plate. Previous reviews a bit of a worry, even at lunch time.

Stayed on the Friday night of a Bank Holiday weekend, £85 - everywhere else was booked. Jokingly concerned when I read the previous reviews - this is a traditional pub, bar staff warm and friendly - it is very clean, tidy and decent was room 2 I stayed in. Naturally B&B rooms over a pub are not going to have... More

Went out for a drink with friends, The pub had a great band playing and the atmosphere was amazing. This was until the band had finished and what I assume was the Landlady got very aggressive and refused to pay the band, her language wasnt just blue it was almost black and at one point she even threw a chair... The Landlady is a tries to take advantage of musicians. Tries to get you to play longer than agreed and then refuses to pay up. Never been so insulted in my life... We had a chair thrown at us at one point. Unless you like being insulted, under payed and threatened, I would give this one a miss.

On arrival we had a friendly greeting from the staff on duty, we were shown to our room, which is above the bar. The very loud thudding music was turned off at 11.30pm, and the very noisy customers left. The mattress was very uncomfortable, with the springs sticking into us, the pillows were lumpy, we got about 2hrs sleep. The... More

We originally booked a 2 night stay at the Port Arms but soon decided after our first night we would like to stay another extra day, which they were able to do. Fantastic room with a view that did not disappoint. Never had a problem with noise other than the passing traffic. Cleaned everyday and replacement of toiletries and refreshments... More
