We loved this place and will return one day. Beautifully situated in charming town of Cranbrook with restaurants a few paces away. A garden lover's haven. Outlook onto the church, with plants clustered round the front door in welcome. Charming hosts, characterful accomodation, first class breakfast. Joe gave spot on advice about the local gardens to visit and we loved... more

My hubby and I spent 3 nights here and had a nice relaxing time. Joe makes great pancakes at breakfast, so nice we had then every day and he gave us the recipe to try at home too. The room was clean, fresh and comfortable, the ensuite bathroom has a huge roll top bath and hand held shower. Friendly hosts... more

I have been a guest at Church Gates for six summers, beginning in 2002, and I plan to keep returning. I tell my friends, who now join me there, that I know that my summer vacation has really begun when I arrive at the door of Church Gates and see Joe's welcoming smile! Joe and Dave are wonderful hosts and,... more

My husband and I felt so comfortable. Joe gave us excellent suggestions on where to visit and where to eat. He made our stay in Cranbrook utterly wonderful! We look forward to another visit hopefully next year! more

My husband and I are one year residents in England and decided on the luxury of a return visit to the famed Sissinghurst Gardens over May bank holiday weekend. We reserved two nights at Church Gates directly with Joe Taylor and had a wonderful weekend. Joe is a gourmet chef and our two breakfasts food will be highlights of our... more

So enjoyed our stay with Joe and David who are the most wonderful hosts. Felt so at home. House was full of character and had a bohemian feel. The cats Seamus and Zachy love it too! Breakfast delicious - everything you could want. We visited Bodiam Castle and Great Dixter Gardens which were both spectacular. Joe and David know the... more

We chose Church Gates B&B after reading many glowing reviews on Trip Advisor (thank-you TA!). Having spent 9 days traveling throughout the UK via a fully escorted coach tour (and staying at Hiltons and Ramadas), we decided to extend our holiday and venture into the southeast corner of England (Kent and Sussex) on our own for several days. This area... more

We have just returned from a short weekend break in Cranbrook, where we visited the Headcorn Air Prom and Sissinghurst Castle. The Church Gates B&B is set in the heart of historic Cranbrook , literally by the gates to the main church and just off the main retail street. It is a very old building full of character which has... more

Intrigued by the Sunday Times' recommendation for the 'Perfect Weekend when visiting Sissinghurst Castle Garden', we found Church Gates Bed and Breakfast, in the friendly little town of Cranbrook, to be one of the most relaxed and hospitable B&B's -and one of the oldest buildings we had ever had the pleasure of staying in. A wonderful haven for garden and... more

You must meet Joe and David. They are instantly like your favorite relatives. You are made to feel at home and their attention to you is genuine and sincere. Their home (your home while there) is just filled with atmosphere and life. The food is wonderful, the beds are comfy, and the baths are hot. What else does one need!... more
