Extremely warm welcome with great choice of welcoming drink and delicious cake....the Gin & Tonic slipped down well after a long drive. The Oast House was clean and cosy and well equipped. If you had forgotten any toiletries, panic over, everything available even down to medication for those suffering from a headache after the M25! The owners could not be... More

My husband and I stayed in the Garden Cottage for 4 nights July 28 through the 31st and hope to have another opportunity to do so in the future. I cannot say enough about the superb hospitality of the Holdens--Corinna and Sean (and their 4 lovely children). Corinna is cheerful and kind and very helpful with suggestions of things to... More

We (family, 3 persons) stayed in the Garden House and enjoyed a peaceful night, a really great breakfast and the Holdens, which turned out to be very, very caring, friendly and knowledgable hosts. Couldn't have been better.

We stayed for two days last week at the Oast and it was a truly great break. So relaxing just sitting in the lovely gardens watching the birds go by, hot air balloon overhed and our hosts displaying the art of croquet. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and the breakfast was beyond belief, everything was very tasty... More

We're glad you thought it was a special getaway and it did all come together with the merry balloon and the strutting moorhen family from our pond and don't forget the daring young men or women in the microlight flying machines. Now you know the rules for croquet, or in some of our children's cases the lack of them, you'll... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in the Garden Cottage for a weekend getaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were thrilled in every way to have discovered this gem. The grounds are stunning and the cottage was sizeable and well decorated. I was fascinated by the history of the buildings too and enjoyed the tour of the old Oast... More

There are always plenty more anniversaries for plenty more visits. We enjoy it when people come here for particularly special occasions and we can help to make it so. You are right - there's so much more to do. So come and do it on your next anniversary. It's nice to hear our breakfast kept you going through lunch. That's... More

We stayed in 'Garden Cottage' at Goodwin House. It was beautiful. This was our third visit and it was as lovely as ever. We had relaxing breakfasts whilst sitting overlooking the peaceful garden. Home cooked bread each morning and homemade jams and marmalade - the attention to detail at all times was excellent. Just a stone's throw away for Sissinghurst,... More

I guess we're doing something right. So nice to have you back again for a third go. Come and relax again. I'm glad you enjoyed the marmalade. It's something we started doing since your last visit. We look forward to the next one. I hope the house buying got less tense. More

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Godwin House and fully agree with previous reviewers. Sean and Corinna were superb hosts with a fantastic eye for detail. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We were with friends who stayed in the Oast House whilst we slept in the Garden House. We were delighted with the standard of the... More

Those are really nice comments thank you. We don't try to 'put hotels to shame' but we do try to do the personal things that they just don't. That's the fun of coming to a B and B and we always try to make it the way we would like it. Thank you for saying that about the breakfast. We... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
You are invited to bed and breakfast at our Tudor home in the heart of the Weald of Kent. Godwin House, is an Elizabethan farmhouse built in 1580 and, set in lovely grounds minutes from ancient Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. You can choose between two luxurious en suite rooms - stylish Garden Cottage or our beautiful, unique Oast House, the oldest in England, a 16th Century building rebuilt in 1740. Garden Cottage with its peg tiled roof and weatherboarding is pure Kentish style. Exposed beams and antique furniture create a welcoming and interesting space, relaxing and private. Godwin’s Oast House is special. There’s nowhere like it. You are in the heart of Kent’s history and rural life but with en-suite comfort, fine furnishings, king sized sleigh bed and mod cons. Breakfast is the best of local produce with home baked bread fresh on the day served in our Tudor Morning Room in the house overlooking the views in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. ... more   less
