My partner and I visited The Bakehouse for our anniversary in 2014 and we really enjoyed our stay, it is a perfect accompaniment to dining in The West House just up the road. The interior has a lovely rustic feel to it and is very quirky in a good way (beware the ceiling is quite low though). The room we... More

We stayed in an attic room for one night. It was perfect. Quaint and quirky but warm and welcoming. Our hosts were personable and easy going. The West House is two doors up, which makes the Bakehouse really well located (and only an hour or so drive from London). The breakfast was great. Recommended.

It would be easy to find fault in the Bakehouse, if that's what you're out to do: No real shower, low ceilings (ouch) and no straight wall whatsoever. But this would miss the point: This is a charming, nicely decorated historical building, and as such the room was really something special. It's not you typical B&B, but it doesn't assume... More

Caroline the owner was very helpful and amenable as I booked very last moment and had had to cancel her the week before, as the reason I was in the area had been delayed. The building is roughly 500 years old and the room we were staying in was in the attic of the place. The decor is quirky but... More

Very old pretty B&B. Lovely decor with lots of nice touches especially in the tearooms. We stayed for 2 nights in the first floor bedroom. The layout is quirky but comfortable. Two negatives are the bathroom is across the landing but it is private so not shared but it looks over the kitchen so not 100% private!. Also sound travels... More

Cosy cottage tea rooms, lovely choice of cakes and refreshments, friendly mother daughter team, pritty flowers outside, they allow well behaved dogs which is a bonus for us, will return for a nice cream tea.

If you enjoy a calm, relaxed atmosphere with everything how it should be, China teacups, fresh cakes, loose tea. And to top it off fantastic attentive service from Emma and mother, makes this a place to visit. I was saddened that I had not visited sooner after hearing about it from a friend, I will be back and I defiantly... More

I visited this very quaint tearoom/B&B yesterday for lunch and was not disappointed. A warm welcome awaits. I had a chicken sandwich on some lovely bread (not packaged bread) and hottest cappuccino I have had in ages. The only thing lacking is no toilet - nearest is in the small free car park (4 hours) opposite. Would definitely visit again.

We stayed one night at the Bakehouse and enjoyed it immensely. Yes! The stairs are difficult and Yes, the floor is uneven but what a pleasure it was to be so well looked after and helped by the charming owner. Family members from abroad were omnipresent during our brief stay but that added to the charm of the place. It... More

Absolutely stunning little b & b in a beautiful location. We arrived quite late and the owner Caroline was very welcoming and recommended some places for us to eat. Unfortunately everywhere had stopped serving however Caroline was very kind in getting out some plates and cutlery for us so we had a Chinese takeaway! Room was lovely and bed very... More
