Arrival in old cool stone-floored hall gets us off to a good start. We had two rooms, I was in 28 on 2nd floor, good views of harbour and roofscape. Mother & sister in room 14 on first floor found beds a little soft and noticed movement of floor when people walked past in corridor - but they are quite... More

My wife, friends and I dined at the new 'Isla' fine dining restaurant in the hotel on Saturday evening and were completely blown away with the amazing food created by Robert Thompson and his talented team. Each course was a masterpiece, in both the way it was presented and more importantly, the way it tasted! The serving staff were very... More

We booked 3 rooms for 3 nights in Aug 2014. All 5 of us loved the hotel, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. So convenient for a quick hop to the Isle of Wight for a few days, right next to the ferry. Yarmouth is a pretty little town, good parking near to the hotel and a choice of pubs... More

The waters edge location of this charming old hotel and the very friendly and helpful staff made for a most enjoyable nostalgic trip. The bedroom was clean and well furnished with beautiful views over the Solent towards the mainland. The sea view restaurant offered an excellent menu and the sheltered garden was an ideal sun trap with bar service and... More

If you one of those people who go to Egypt and then moan that restaurant in the resort did not EVEN serve Yorkshire pudding :-) or your average meal is bucket of chips with slice of meat- do not waste your time and money. If you love art, especially culinary art and you put attention to the detail it’s going... More

Thank you for your review - we love your analogy! We are trying to cater for as many tastes as possible with Isla’s Conservatory offering great unfussy food and Isla’s Restaurant for “culinary art”. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. More

My daughter and I were very much looking forward to our lunch at The George Hotel. The menu looked quite interesting so we tried the cuttlefish breadsticks with taramasalata. The breadsticks were tasteless and the taramasalata which we had been lead to believe to be homemade was watered down. We ordered a mackerel starter which was acceptable. The crab with fennel was... Fine dining and superb service has been restored once again. Rooms are well appointed, spotless and beds are the most comfortable I have had the pleasure to sleep in. Dinner is superb and breakfast makes a wonderful start to the day. It is impossible to find fault with this historic hotel.

We spent five days here in June. A new owner has just taken over, and it shows. The hotel is in a perfect position on the waterfront, with a garden for whiling away lazy afternoons. Cheerful, polite and attentive staff help with anything you need. Rooms are magnificent, panelled, old, but spotless with marvellously comfortable beds and plumbing which works.... More
