We went for afternoon tea here. Booking & changing of booking faultless. The actual afternoon tea was lovely, just a couple of issues, one teapot no hot water which gave 3 cups of tea between 2 of us, not enough. No-one around to ask for more so my husband had to go looking for someone. When a fresh teapot came... More

We have stayed at The George many times – but not for three years before this most recent visit during the Isle of Wight festival. The hotel is beautifully maintained and decorated; little touches such as the flower displays in wellies during the festival don’t go unnoticed. Premium room twelve (previously the overnight choice of King Charles II apparently) was... More

Awesome back patio views of the harbor and right on the water. HUGE backyard with just a great feeling but NO staff, NO music, NO anything. this back area has HUGE potential to be THE place to go but the staff here or better yet the Management/owners here are just letting it SIT. Just because its not high season it... More

Thank you for your feedback. Our garden is a gorgeous spot and as you probably saw, we have just had it landscaped. Today, the garden was full as it is most days when the weather is good. And on Sundays afternoons, starting on the 12 July, we will have jazz in the garden like last year. If you look at... More

I think we booked the last room on the Isle of Wight for the festival and what a fabulous place to stay. The staff were warm and friendly and nothing was any bother. The room was immaculately prepared every day and the bed was just so sumptuous. We only had the breakfast, but again it was just perfect. Fabulous hotel,... More

We visited the George Hotel during a day trip to Yarmouth having noticed its inviting garden whilst walking on Yarmouth pier. The building itself is very grand inside and is kept very clean and tidy, but we made for the garden to have a cup of tea looking out over the Solent in the afternoon sun. The George Hotel is... We had a lovely afternoon tea of jam and oven fresh scones with clotted cream - delicious! Wasn't the cheapest we've ever had - but you have to invest in the view across the water and along that lovely old listed wooden pier. Very classy and well worth it! We'll be back and maybe stay over next time - we're... More

You can see the historic hotel and its seafront gardens as the ferry heads into the picturesque village of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. It's changed hands in the past year and the new owner is clearly investing - the two restaurants have been beautifully renovated and it seems work is ongoing updating bedrooms. I stayed in the recently... More

We were aware before we arrived that The George was being refurbished and we were put in one of the old rooms. I was rather nervous that it would be rather like staying with your granny but it wasn't at all! Lovely comfy big bed, fresh modern curtains, cushions etc. We ate in the smarter of the two resturants for... More

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed a two night get away with us and that we were able to dispel the nerves by offering an old bedroom which was still lovely, fresh and modern – not at all like Granny's! We are very lucky to enjoy such a stunning location. Do come back soon! More

I ate and slept wonderfully at this lovely hotel where the new owner shows attention to detail that makes a real difference to comfort. I loved being able to walk off the ferry and just turn the corner to find this lovely hotel situated on the waterfront.

Just 60 steps from the ferry, you enter The George, beautiful arrays of flowers greet you, a step back in time, with a beautiful stair case leading up to your room, a rustic homely feel. Rooms tastefully decorated with new en suite, and a selection of teas, coffee & hot chocolate to make. Isla's conservatory at the rear of the... More

Thank you for your lovely review and for noting all the little extra’s that make The George so special. “A very special unpretentious decadent meal with knowledgeable staff to serve & advise” is exactly our aim for Isla's. It was a pleasure to meet you both - please do come back soon. More
