My friend and I only needed to stay for Saturday night and we were most fortunate that the owners were so co-operative in allowing us to do this. We were greeted most warmly and they were really friendly and helpful. We had a lovely twin room with a bay window, tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits, water etc etc. They... More

This is a very homely B&B where you will be treated like a member of the family by John & Setsuko. The attention to detail in the guest rooms is impressive: you will find every item you will need to enjoy your stay. The English breakfast puts others to shame! We stayed for only one night but will definitely return... More

Good location: Close to Totland Bay, Colwell Bay, and very close to Totland/Freshwater Main street A3055. Public transport: Southern Vectis bus no. 7 and 12 (northbound bus stop approx. 200m away). Very helpful hosts, they had a genuine service attitude. Great breakfast, good room, free wifi. Good nearby fish restaurants; The Hut and The Waterfront Affordable rates.

Stayed here last night 7/1/15 and had a great nights sleep, very comfortable bed with everything you could want in your room, ideal position for the Yarmouth ferry. Lovely Island and nice people. Would stay here again no problem.

I stayed here with my daughter for a short break on the Isle of Wight. We picked this B&B because it seemed to offer good value for money and was close to where we wanted to be (Alum Bay, the Needles, Freshwater, Yarmouth). I dont think we could have picked better - John and Setsuko were really welcoming and friendly... More

My husband and I visited The Hoo for 4 nights with our almost-6 year old. We used the double room which also had a sofa bed - ideal for our needs! The Hoo itself is simply delightful - a beautiful Victorian house set in a pretty garden within striking distance of the beach. Our room was carefully and thoughtfully organised... More

Setsuko and John were wonderful hosts and Wally, the parrot, was a big hit with my son, Neil. Excellent attention to detail throughout the room and the breakfast was amazing. The house is very well maintained and all the Victorian features are still intact and in great working condition. It also comes with a beautiful garden and is a very... More

Wearrived at the Hoo to be met by the host, we were given a thorough introduction to all aspects of the house. Brilliant idea, order your breakfast the night before, food is definately available and the cost is reduced for the B and B. Our room was a good size with a sink, we shared the bath room and seperate... More

Thank you for your kind comments. Our décor is mainly traditional English in keeping with the house which was built in Victorian times and has an elegant interior. Too much modern furniture would look out of place, but rest assured the beds are not of Victorian vintage. More

One of the best "Guest House" experiences ever made!!! My husband and I decided to book a last minute trip to the Isle of Wight to spend there New Year's Eve and stay there for 2 days. Since we have a dog we had to find a pet-friendly place, so we found The Hop, phoned to make an enquiry, spoke... More

John and Setsuko were very welcoming and we spent a lovely two nights in their hospitality. The house is well situated even if you have to drive up and down the road to find it at first. Plenty of free on street parking. If you want a clean contemporary feel, this isn't for you. It has carpets in the en-suite,... More

Thanks for your positive review. Both the en-suite bathroom & the other bathroom have had the carpets replaced by ceramic tiles. More
