First thanks to the barman for saving us a table. lovely fish and chips and good portions. Great cosy atmosphere on a windy, sunny last day of 2015. The Isle of Wight needs many more pubs like this. A proper walkers pub in a stunning location.

We visited with friends and had an excellent meal, each course delivered far above our expectations and we would like to congratulate Sue and her team for such an enjoyable meal. We chose venison and lamb for mains, absolutely delicious!

Even though we arrived at the end of their lunch service (around 3pm on a Saturday) they were accommodating to us and a family that arrived even later. With a table by their open fire it was a welcome, cosy spot out of the chilling winter wind. There was a friendly local atmosphere (none of the "we don't like strangers... More

This is a friendly inn in sixties styled wallpaper, and extremely convenient location if you are a fan of Alfred Tennyson and keen to explore surroundings. The staff are hard-working and friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Our only hitch is we couldn't travel in time, on two occasions due to a bereavement... More

Just got back from a 2 night stay on the Isle of Wight. This place is perfectly located for the needles and a great base to explore the island. A cosy pub downstairs with tasty food and friendly staff. We were two couples so had a double ensuite each. The rooms are clean, cosy, could maybe do with a lick... More

Lovely pub in such a beautiful location overlooking Tennyson Downs. We sat outside listening to Joe Staunton, a fabulous solo guitarist/ singer. Lovely food, great beer and wine, sun shone and a blissful way of passing an afternoon/evening. Landlady was a star and her staff wonderful

Located not too far from the breathtaking views of Alum Bay, the Highdown Inn is very quaint and charming. The island bus has a stop right outside which is really convenient. Our room was cosy and comfortable with beautiful pastel coloured walls and a nice view of the rolling hills in the distance. The complimentary breakfast was lovely and the... More

Eat here twice with my family and would highly recommend this pub restaurant. The menu is written on a black board and it offers a bit of everything. Fresh fish locally caught and produce grown also locally. It's a no fuss eating restaurant very clean and all the staff are friendly and knowledgable. The food is very fresh and very... More

I visited with my parents and husband and all the meals were of very poor quality. My father ordered local faggots served with mash, my mother had the local butchers sausages with mash, my husband the smoked fish platter and I had a simple local butchers pasty and chips. The food came very quickly and we soon realised why. The... More
