Excellent stay, lovely front room with bright light coming through the two windows. Food is incredible - especially the fish - and lovely warm fire in the pub. Very friendly owner who is happy to help with everything.

The Highdown Inn well...... Our stay was a nightmare this was supposed to be a hotel or B&B I would not call it either. It was as if we were an inconvenience rather than welcomed paying guests. The owner was abrupt and unfriendly. She left the keys to all our rooms in the lock on the outside of our room,... More

Stayed two nights, rooms very tired and common areas not too clean, one shower did not work were not offered any compensation would not recommend this B & B. Having said that the food in the pub was great served and presented well, although a mix up with the table bookings so I would always ring and check that they... More

We stopped off here for lunch whilst on an all day walk on sunday. Initially just for a drink in the garden but when we saw the Sunday roast decided to order food. Delicious home cooked food. Well presented. Friendly service and very reasonable at 9.50 each for a roast.

Stayed one night on a hiking weekend. Was concerned when arrived as carpet and decor in urgent need of refreshing/replacement. However it is actually delightful! Menu is extensive - something for everyone (vegetarian, fresh fish, rich beef pie,) dog friendly and very friendly staff. Saturday evening the rest of our hiking group from the nearby campsite joined us for supper,... More

We ate here on Sunday evening as we were in the area and it was advertised as a seafood specialist. There wasn't a lot of seafood on the menu, maybe a product of it being Sunday. We both went for the crab and prawn stuffed avocado, which was good without being special, we thought it a bit overpriced for what... More

It's a friendly local that also simply cooks local produce, which means sometimes there isn't much seafood to choose from. The local meat is good though, nothing too adventurous but all of it edible. As mentioned elsewhere, the decor inside doesn't change much over the years even when they paint the outside...cosy enough in the bar though. In season they'll... More

Stopped off at this pub yesterday for something to eat, we'd heard it was good for seafood so decided to give it a try. Sadly very little seafood on offer, the only food on offer was written on a blackboard, no menu, so my wife pumped for smoked salmon and scramble eggs and I had a fry up. To be... More

A walm welcome, we were seated by the wonderful log fire whiched help us dry out from our wet walk. There was a wide selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian food which completely filled our stomachs with delisious grub and massive portion sizes! One portionof the rasberry pavlova was enough fot the 4 of us! We will definitely be visiting... More

We stopped here for a late Saturday lunchtime snack. Very unprepossessing pub, but excellent choice of beers and an extremely wide-ranging menu. We sat in the bar (with dog) and had some of the best baguettes, sandwiches that we have had on our travels - nice fresh bread, copious fillings, decent sized salad on the side, all for half what...
