Stopped off at this pub yesterday for something to eat, we'd heard it was good for seafood so decided to give it a try. Sadly very little seafood on offer, the only food on offer was written on a blackboard, no menu, so my wife pumped for smoked salmon and scramble eggs and I had a fry up. To be... More

A walm welcome, we were seated by the wonderful log fire whiched help us dry out from our wet walk. There was a wide selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian food which completely filled our stomachs with delisious grub and massive portion sizes! One portionof the rasberry pavlova was enough fot the 4 of us! We will definitely be visiting... More

We stopped here for a late Saturday lunchtime snack. Very unprepossessing pub, but excellent choice of beers and an extremely wide-ranging menu. We sat in the bar (with dog) and had some of the best baguettes, sandwiches that we have had on our travels - nice fresh bread, copious fillings, decent sized salad on the side, all for half what... Eight of us stopped off for Sunday lunch in the middle of our walk from Yarmouth to Freshwater and back. We were welcomed and well fed, the staff were friendly and helpful. Great Service. Lovely food.

We have just got back from a ten day stay at the campsite opposite so I think we have got a really good idea of this pub and are well placed to comment. I should add that we have been visiting this pub for a number of years and we have always found it to be excellent in all respects.... More

After a nice walk from the Needles gun batteries, we found this excellent pub next to the bus stop. Since it was around 30 degrees Celcius, the refreshments were very welcome. We had to wait a while, but the food was very nice and well served. The menu offers a wide choice and the portions are more than reasonable size.

Service was terrible, we arrived and had to wait 20 minutes before any staff acknowledged we were there. Staff came out to serve other patrons so obviously knew we were waiting. Once someone did finally come over we put our order in (a gammon steak and a roast) and I also asked for some water. At this point no-one apologised... More

This pub really is a hidden treasure. Been coming for years - it's a real cosy island pub which is always popular with holiday makers in the summer months. It has great wine, great ale, and a truly extensive blackboard full to the brim of fresh off the boat fish meals among other vegetable and meat dishes. Said meals really... More

The food was high quality and service was very friendly. There were several local customers who made the effort to chat to us too. A good sized beer garden, ideal for us as we have dogs. There is a dog water bowl outside too and dogs are allowed in the pub. Another bonus is they serve food all day rather... More

The Highdown Inn has a large car park which is most welcome in the small country lanes. It is not far from the Needles and Alum Bay and a redeeming feature is that it does not stop serving food at 2pm [as do most other eateries in the area]. The pub is a traditional one & as we visited on... More
