Worst hotel I have ever been to. It really should be totally redbuilt. Food is dreadful. I had more exciting school dinners in the late 50's! Also had to send the cutlery back as it was not clean.

We have stayed 4 times at this Hotel its position is fabulous and staff very good. It can be said it is old fashion but that is its charm. If you want a modern cement block Hotel do not stay here or on the IOW.

Earlier reviews criticised the decor. Now (September 2010) the hotel is in immaculate order. My bedroom (sea view, second floor) was so smart I asked whether it has just been redecorated; the answer was one year ago. Frankly, everybody and everything in the hotel is now so pleasant that I can only wonder what kind of guest would find something... More

Poor customer service, shortly after checking out, I rang to ask whether I had left some rather expensive cosmetics behind. Receptionist didn't know & wasn't interested, despite several attempts by me to speak to owner, no-one has called me back. Total lack of courtesy.

I stayed with my wife and two girls (aged 11 and 9) and we had a really good stay in rooms 10 and 13 which in effect are a little suite on the top floor with a small double facing the sea and a medium double facing the rear perfectly pleasant view. Chatty cleaners, attentive owner and receptionist and everything... More

This hotel is fantastically situated between Ryde and Seaview, right on the beach - position perfect. It does however need some serious investment to continue to command the prices it charges. The owner really does her very best with a limited staff but rooms are not the best, beds are absolutely awful, the bathrooms are not what one now expects,... More

I just had to add my comments, after reading the three negative reviews on here. I have stayed at the Springvale twice, last September and this April. For me it is exactly what I want when I stay in the Isle of Wight. OK, it is old-fashioned, but for me that is the main part of its charm. Both times... More

This is a real sad case. The Hotel has evidently been redecorated recently, the outside is rather ice cream parlour green and white and the rooms were adequate and clean - but that's where it ends. The owner should have retired years ago, he seems very willing and certainly knows what he would like to offer as a standard, but... More

photos do not reflect the current state of the 'hotel'. scaffolding, in need of renovation and updating, although clean. outrageous prices in restaurant for food that is inferior.
