We needed two single rooms for one night and The Crown Hotel was our last port of call. The prices were dear for what we wanted but some shrewd bargaining later and we ended up with the rooms. At first the place looked tired and run down. The rat run of corridors and stairs started a horrible picture of what... More

We booked an overnight stay in The Crown Hotel having stayed the previous night in another Hotel elsewhere on the Island . We had booked a double room but where put in a double which was cramped , the shower cubicle was tiny and you could hardly turn around . The Hotel the night before had a 24 hr reception... More

The staff were very pleasant. The meal was however horrible. A Ploughmans lunch with supermarket bought col slaw, par bake bread and cheese strait out the packet. The pickle was good. forget the rest. Not good enough! I really looked forward to that lunch and it was just awful!

The Crown Hotel was perfect for our needs. It was a clean place to stay, we had a shower and the English Breakfast was delicious! Furthermore there is a pub down stairs that has a great selection of lagers, ales, and ciders on tap. It also has a great atmosphere to watch a footy match The staff is polite and... More

Have stayed at the Crown for many years now for the August bank holiday. It's run and staffed by a well led, friendly team. Fantastic location and handy for all amenities. This year we had en suite and that was super. The morning cuppa was most welcomed too. It's not flashy, it's not part of a chain; it's good honest... More

This is exactly what it says on the tin, budget priced rooms above a town centre pub. We knew this before we booked and you will find those that moan didn't bother to check where they were staying, their problem, it's just a shame The Crown suffer their reviews. We were greeted by a very friendly young barmaid and within... More

It seems we were lucky and had a first floor en suite room. The room was very quiet. The beds were clean and comfortable. On the down side our room was not cleaned at all in the 6 nights we stayed. I had to repeatedly go down to the pub in the evening to ask for tea/coffee and clean towels.... More

This is not a hotel. It is a loud Wetherspoon-type pub bang in the centre of town with rooms above, which doesn't do breakfast. On arrival the noise from the pub was so great I asked to be transferred to a less noisy room. I as offered a triple with shared bathroom on the second floor, and decided silence was... More
