silva and I stayed here sunday night, its a b&b close to the sea front, our room was clean, tidy and being on the top floor we had sea views. our host Michael made us very welcome, we had a full breakfast in the morning and overall we had a nice stay here. costs £65.00 for the night and that... I chose this following a personal recommendation and was not disappointed. It is what it claims to be, a 3-star hotel. The room was large and clean and the staff friendly. I had accidentally booked a room without en suite, but the bath and shower rooms were very close. The breakfasts were hearty and the home-made marmalade very good. The... More

I'm afraid it's a bit of a bleak affair at the Dorset Hotel. I felt misled by previous reviews that rated this hotel so highly -- one of the highest on the island, in fact -- because what I experienced was a hotel that has seen better days. The proprietor is a very nice and cheerful man, but unfortunately the... More

Having stayed here one night whilst visiting family on the island I could not believe my eyes. Many people may criticise this given the price range of this place but here is where I beg to differ. If I'm paying £60+ to spend a night somewhere there are some basics I expect. Cleanliness, friendliness of staff and carpet that covers... More

Thank you for your review, we are disappointed that you were unhappy with the accommodation provided. Form many of the reviews on tripadvisor we are generally praised for our cleanliness. The mattress that you show has a mattress protector, a memory foam topper and 2 sheets and a quilt cover why you found the necessity to take it all off... More

I stayed at the Dorset Hotel whilst attending an interview. I had a relaxing time as the staff were very friendly and helpful - I felt at home. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was one of the best I ever had! I would definitely stay there again, especially as the cost was so reasonable.

Stayed at The Dorset on a leisure break and I can't fault the hotel in any way shape or form. Rooms are of a good size for a single occupant, very good firm and yet surprisingly soft bed and with breakfast included, terrific value for money! If I ever make the trip back to the IoW. I know where I'm... More

I spent 3 nights here, along with 5 other members of our pub quiz team, at the end of September 2014. For the price, I wasn't expecting much, and was really surprised at how nice the Dorset was. The staff were friendly, chatty and knowledgeable about the area. My twin ensuite room was functional and clean. My bed was comfortable,... More

The staff are all extremely friendly and accommodating. If budget is your main objective you probably cant go wrong. The pros are that it has a vintage charm which might put you off if you are used to travellodge or other corporate set ups. The cons were that we found the place a bit smelly which might be addressed with... More

We stayed here in September just for one night when visiting relatives in Ryde. Our room was small but clean and the bed was very comfortable. The room had a decent TV and hospitality tray (including chocolates)! The décor was slightly jaded and could do with a bit of TLC but was certainly good value for money and we had... More

The Isle of Wight is not a very budget friendly place overall. The Dorset Hotel actually came up as the second least expensive hotel / B&B on the island, but we still paid nearly 70 pound a night. Our expectations weren't very high so when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly and easy going welcome. The look... More
