recently stayed and had a great time at the farringford, great place, friendly staff, and great food. We were made very welcome by everyone there. the rooms were clean. Dinner was amazing, everything from the fresh bread to start right throung to the amazing sweets. One evening we went to the Garden restaurant for a bite to eat wjich was... more

I spent 8 days at Farringford celebrating my 60th birthday. More than 40 friends and family aged from 5 to 85 joined me, staying in the hotel and in all three types of self-catering suite. Having been to Farringford many times before, I was relieved to find it as wonderful as ever under new owners. The rose-filled gardens were a... more

I have attended a few weddings at the Farringford so it was our first choice when booking our civil ceremony and reception there. The staff are friendly and always around to help, although some are quite young and inexperienced they are always happy to help. We had friends and family who stayed at the cottages which had been recently refurbished,... more

A lovely location and for lovers of poetry, it is a must, as it was the home of Tennyson. The rooms are very spacious and very comfortable, but facilities are a little sparse e.g. no cable/satellite TV (poor reception for main channels as well). Staff are very helpful and breakfast & lunch is wonderful. However, dinner is a bit hit... more

Although the Farringford looks great from the outside, the hotel is let down by a dated interior and tired furnishings. I visited with a mate on a cycle ride and although it served our puropse, I would not recommend a visit with a girlfriend/boyfriend - it's just not up to that standard. At breakfast, we were left wondering around with... more

The hotel is in a lovely location and the staff we always very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We were half board so ate in the restaurant every night and bar one night when the chef was off the food was very good. However our room which was a feature room and for which we paid a supplement,... more

Having just returned to the mainland after a night's stay, thought I'd comment on this excellent hotel. The location is beautiful, quiet and tranquil. Surrounding gardens and grounds have been well tended and a gentle stroll in the morning is a real pleasure. The reception staff were friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble for them, and the... more

The hotel has recently re-opened after extensive refurbishment. We were in one of the 'Garden Suite' cottages which turned out to be 1960's self-catering chalets resembling a sheltered housing complex in Harlow New Town. However,it was newly decorated and furnished but did not really fit in with the hotel's supposedly upmarket image. The service in bar and restaurant was appalling.... more

I have just returned from honeymoon following our fantastic wedding at Farringford on 19th September 2008. Unfortunately the hotel is now closed for a refurb, so in these circumstances the hotel coped very well and made our wedding one to remember. Although short staffed (we were there the last weekend they were open), they coped remarkably well, worked very hard,... more
