Thought it a bit odd to be told when booking that the first night had to be paid by card over the phone. Told if we did not turn up that was that, and the money would be taken ! Shortly after arrival we needed to ask a question so we had to knock on the private door. We were... More

We were very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. It is common practice to be asked for a deposit when booking into either large or small establishments. Virtually everybody who stays with us has an enjoyable stay and many return time and again. Mrs. Buttercup certainly enjoys her job otherwise she wouldn't have lasted 18... More

Our first stop on a 3 week trip around Isle of Wight, Dorset & Hampshire staying at various B&B's and Inns. What a standard they set. Beautiful room with fridge, dressing gowns, etc and even a lovely sofa to sit on and shower & wc in a separate area. Great choice for breakfast with a lovely big cafetiere of proper... More

We stayed for 4 nights and can honestly say that should we return to the Island then we would definitely stay at Buttercup house again. Everything was to a very high standard, with friendly hosts, and lovely clean and well furnished rooms. We had a nice size bedroom and additional room to relax in with sofa TV and fridge.(very handy) Fresh... More

I went to the Isle of Wight to do the annual Sprint Triathlon (held on 29/9/13) and needed a B&B close to the start venue. I stayed there in room 3 (en suite double room) with my girl friend 2 days before the triathlon. We found Buttercup House was just lovely. The proprietors were very helpful friendly, very organised and... More

I recently spent two nights at Buttercup House during a walking weekend with friends on the Isle of Wight. The bed was very comfortable and there was a good breakfast. Overall it was fantastic value. Lots of nice touches like the free WiFi and books/DVDs you could borrow during your stay. Rob gave useful tips about good walks to do... More

Me and my girlfriend spent two nights here and the building and the facilities are lovely. However, prior to the stay itself. There were problems with the booking. Our deposit which we paid ages in advance hadn't been confirmed and we had to chase it up ourselves. Nonetheless, lovely beds and room with lovely food in the morning. Although the... More

We stayed here after Bestival for some much needed quiet time. On arrival we were greeted and shown our rooms and they were immaculate. They had an incredibly cosy feel with their own separate living area. There were even wine glasses and a bottle opener provided which was a nice touch. The fridge was also very handy. Very peaceful at... More

Lots of little extras: a small fridge, the kettle filled each day, a jug of cold water in the fridge, a corkscrew, use of a microwave if we wanted it and free WiFi; excellent food; spacious, very friendly and helpful but most of all the most comfortable bed ever!

Buttercup House is a beautiful house perfectly situated down a quiet road in Freshwater 5 minutes from the beach and shops. I have stayed here four times now, each time in a different room which all have been pristinely clean with a fridge and tea making facilities. There is also a microwave in the hall which you are welcome to... More
