Booked the Fountain through booking.com not realising exactly where it is. It has to be the only hotel between the Red Jet Ferry and the Marina. And given the Red Jet and the Marina are 200 yards apart that is pretty handy. Vey good service and nice room although if you have a heavy bag you maybe faced with 4... More

We stayed here whilst on the IOW for the festival in June. Thought we would give Cowes a try (we usually stay in Ryde) but found that the travelling to and from the festival site was more difficult. The room was adequate, comfy and very clean. However our breakfast experience was not a good one. Each morning we were served... More

We called in for two cups of tea on a Saturday afternoon. Whilst the tea tasted okay, the cup was dirty and the spoon that came with the cup and saucer was even worse (picture attached). The staff were dressed in a uniform but they looked very untidy and the gent who exclaimed and gave a sigh when he saw... More

Went for lunch and ordered two smoked haddock off the two for £9.99 menu. We were told there was a 15 minute wait for food. We started getting tetchy after 45 minutes waiting but the food did come after about 55 minutes. When it did come it was very enjoyable. Just a pity we were not informed of the wait.... More

Only place open for breakfast in Cowes so not much choice. Couldn't sit in restaurant area because it was 'too busy' so in bar area...gaming machines and stale alcohol smell. Eggs benedict was poor - eggs burst and running all over plate, hollandaise sauce curdled. Sent back. Next version still curdled. Didn't eat. Coffee was Nescafe instant. Didn't bring butter,... More

We stayed for one night and booked online at a discounted rate. We were given a superior double room which was lovely. The bed was huge and there was a sofa, chairs etc to make a separate area. The staff were very helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough to help.Breakfast was superb with lots of choice of cereals, pastries,... More

My husband brought me here for a nights break away for my birthday. Lovely room but not very big. Great view over waters, noisy at night (window open as too hot) but still slept well. Shower door was faulty. Friendly staff offered extra towels to stop floor getting wet as was quickest resolution until door could be fixed. Nice food... More

An average town centre pub straddling the bus station entrance but actually quite a nice place to stay for a couple of nights. Room 1 has no view and is noisy from revellers in the street below but is beautiful appointed, very large, a proper and very comfy king size bed and large bathroom. Room 11 is smaller but also... I will start off this review admitting that I prefer the comfort and convenience of chain hotels, especially the nicer ones. Every now and then it is nice to stay in a local hotel or B&B, but after a recent multi night stay at The Fountain, I am sad to say it did not live up to my expectation. The... More

We spend two nights at The Fountain Inn. This is pub hotel, and expect average service - the bar staff also looked after the hotel reception, and whilst they were friendly, however, they didn't have the experience of hospitality sector. The room was clean, however, there was a smell that came from the pub in the ground floor. The room... More
