Have just spent an extremely good weekend in this Hotel. It's ideally situated next to the Red Jet Ferry terminal. The Number 1 bes runs into Newport every 8 minutes so transport links are good. In addition, Cowes itself has lots of pubs and restaurants to keep you amused. The hotel was extensively refurbished last year and from the outside... More

I just needed to get away for a couple of days and had not been to the Isle of Wight for at least 20 years so picked the hotel for situation just by the red jet ferry. Certainly very near but not intrusive. Good for the buses to take you around the Isle. Staff could have been more friendly and... More

Stayed at the Fountain inn for 3 nights in October. It was in a good position overlooking the ferry terminal in Cowes and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a room right on the top floor which was comfortable and quiet although a little tired around the edges(paint flaking off walls and window sills) No shower gel or... More

Booked a room here on spec whilst touring the island. The room number 15 overlooked Cowes harbour with the ferry terminal and taxi/bus stop outside. The room was nicely furnished, the bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. The worst thing was the two ventilation fans out side the window which were very loud continued all night and it was like... very friendly pub in a town centre location. just a few yards from the ferry. the hospitality was excellent, the food was good. But for me the downsides outweighed the good sides. tiny room, almost no hanging space. no parking. buses outside the window from 7am to 11pm. the pub next door had very loud live music until after 12.00.... Check in was quick and the entire team were helpful. The room itself was well equipped. Only thing I thought needed changing was the shower curtain but apart from that the room was comfortable and the bed was well made with crisp fresh linen. Had bad experiences with pub breakfasts in the past but I was not disappointed this time... More

As regulars (both to stay and to eat) at the Fountain a recent visit for a family reunion/dinner left us underwhelmed. Over the years we have stayed and eaten many times at the hotel a slightly scruffy but character filled home from home, a full refurb (about 18 months ago) had smartened up our old favorite but kept the friendly... Booked the Fountain through booking.com not realising exactly where it is. It has to be the only hotel between the Red Jet Ferry and the Marina. And given the Red Jet and the Marina are 200 yards apart that is pretty handy. Vey good service and nice room although if you have a heavy bag you maybe faced with 4... More

We stayed here whilst on the IOW for the festival in June. Thought we would give Cowes a try (we usually stay in Ryde) but found that the travelling to and from the festival site was more difficult. The room was adequate, comfy and very clean. However our breakfast experience was not a good one. Each morning we were served... More

We called in for two cups of tea on a Saturday afternoon. Whilst the tea tasted okay, the cup was dirty and the spoon that came with the cup and saucer was even worse (picture attached). The staff were dressed in a uniform but they looked very untidy and the gent who exclaimed and gave a sigh when he saw... More
