This is the most wonderful hotel, full of memorabilia of Cowes at its greatest - signed photos of sailors from the biggest yachting races, and also from the Cowes-Torquay powerboat crews clearly 'in the know' having discovered this privately-run, unassuming, yet eccentric gem. Wonderful views of the beach and fantastic location. Very comfortable and characterful. What a lot of dusting!... More

To begin at the beginning. A warm, friendly welcome from young Tom who carried our bags and saw us safely ensconced into our cosy well furnished room. Tom, then brought us a couple of drinks which we imbed as we sat on our balcony with glorious views over the Solent and Southampton waters. We've eaten a few breakfasts in up... More

Villa Rothsay is like no other hotel. It is a one-off, a very special place. It is packed full of charm and creates the sort of memories you will treasure in years to come. We have stayed here and enjoyed many wonderful meals. The minute we step through the door, we are made to feel special. dining at Villa Rothsay... More

The staff were fab; breakfast was really good; loved the lounge and the "trust bar" ....but for a five star 130 pound a night hotel - the bath products feel cheap (bring your own), you can't tell if the yoghurts are vegetarian friendly (multi pack); towels smelled of cigarette smoke - when I complained the response was "oh, ok" not... Dear Guest, We’re glad you felt our staff helped make your stay with us and that the breakfast was really good but were sorry to hear that the complimentary toiletry products were not to your liking. We invested quite some time ‘road testing’ many makes of toiletries and finally settled on the Duck Island brand as featured in Vogue magazine... More

First and most important for us was the lovely people who own and work here. Quirky and interesting items adorn the main rooms. Coupled with the quality of the food and slection of wines it soon feels like home. Clean and tidy rooms. We will be back later in the year.

We stayed for one night including dinner as a group of 4 cyclists doing the round the island road ride. Lovely welcome, fantastic ambience quite unobtainable outside of private ownership. Room not the most modern....but clear view across the Solent to Southampton Water. Dinner was very good indeed. We were able to leave all our gear to pick up later... More

Just returned from a special valentines stay, including dinner. We were greeted with a friendly and cheery welcome to this wonderful hotel. From the roadside it looks quite small and unassuming, but on entering it was almost going into The Tardis. A fabulous Victorian staircase led us to our spacious well appointed room, overlooking the sea, where we could watch... More

When we were first shown our room it took me several minutes to stop exclaiming about the beauty of the view. But there is much more to this hotel than it's stunning position. The comfort of the bed and pillows, the sense you were staying with a friend, added to the pleasure. We were only there for one night but... More

We were over to take part in the Isle of Wight Book Festival and we were allocated this hotel to stay in. In years of travelling I can safely say that I have never liked a hotel more. Our room was on the top floor and consisted of two rooms one of which had a really amazing balcony with views... More

Sadly we only stayed 1 night - & were out for most of it! That as it may, we were very happy with our stay at the Villa Rothsay. Walking through the door was like stepping into my childhood - this wonderful hotel is very reminiscent of my Grandparents house! The beautiful, dark wood furniture would seem heavy anywhere else...
