We stayed at the Talbot for two nights and were most impressed, the bedroom was very nice, the shower worked, plenty of towels kettle with coffee, tea etc. the bar was very comfortable, very nice log fire burning! This is a fairly large hotel in the compact little town of Leominster and the easiest access to the carpark is via the Somerfield car park on the outer road. We held our Annual Convention at the Talbot last April, having previously done so at another Hotel in Leominster which had been run like Fawlty Towers - I'm not joking, in fact that is an understatement. The Talbot should trigger the feelgood factor, being old and homely-looking - but instead it exemplifies the sad side of British hotelkeeping. The hotel is tired, and desperately in need of a major refurbishment. The room was poky with cardboard wall partitions and a bathroom the size of a wardrobe, with rusty fittings and a joke shower. The Hotel is a typical 'olde worlde' pub/restaurant/hotel - it smells of smoke, fried food and furniture polish! I'm sure that once it was a thriving hotel but its glory days have passed, as have those of Leominster. Fine for a brief stay and reasonably priced - friendly staff, surprisingly good food.
