Conveniently located just as you enter the lovely hamlet of Kington, The Bench Mark is a wonderful place to stay at an eminently reasonable price. Adam, our host, welcomed us warmly into his well-appointed home which is filled with the beautiful things he makes - scarves woven from yarn he has spun himself, tasty home-made marmalade, and impressive books he... We received a very warm welcome from Adam, despite arriving late and dripping wet after a hard day's walking on Offa's Dyke. Our rooms were lovely and clean, with beautiful cotton bed linen and nice biscuits (in my experience a good test for a B and B). The house is lovely and full of interest, reflecting Adam's many interests and... More

After a number of reservation hiccups - all dealt with in the most relaxed fashion - we eventually spent two most enjoyable nights at Benchmark B&B. You are entering Adam's home and world - of spinning, weaving, harp playing and marmalade making. Two rooms, quite small, have nice sheets and towels, whilst the large, shared bathroom has good fixtures and... More

A lovely place to wind down after a troublesome day of walking. Host Adam will go to great lengths to assure your well-being, a.o. turning up like a knight in shining armour to save a damsel in distress who was stranded. As soon as you are ushered inside you feel welcome. The rooms of The Bench Mark are of ample... More

My wife and I stayed at Bench Mark for one night whilst on a brief tour of Herefordshire, and were just delighted with our stay. Host Adam made us feel so relaxed welcoming us into his cosy cottage home, with such a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Downstairs the small lounge room was warm and comfortable with an amazing recliner... More

Went to Kington to go hiking and to explore the area and found the Bench Mark a wonderful place to stay. Adam is very helpful and a great host. The rooms are very homely and I just couldn't help but feel relaxed and happy in the comfy bed.Breakfast comes with the added bonus of homemade jams, which are very delicious,... More

An unusual B&B in that you are sharing Adam's home, and you are made to feel most welcome in it. It is like staying with one of your cherished friends. Adam is knowledgeable about the area and is happy to provide any advice he can, in a way that is responsive to your requests rather than anything being foisted upon... More

Adam welcomes you into his home, treating you like a friend. We have now visited 3 times. He lets you use all the facilities in the house, cooks an excellent breakfast, provides comfortable bedrooms with crisp white sheets and fluffy towels. There are also lots of books to read. The garden also looks very inviting, but the weather has not... More
