We stayed at the Benchmark for two nights and regretted that we couldn't stay longer. The house is very homely and cosy. Everything is spotless and well looked after. The BnB offers a tv-free experience with the breakfast being sourced from local ingredients. We loved the ecological and free spirit of the house and all the wonderfully crafted items made... More

A lovely and welcoming stay. Rooms are cosy and the bathroom nice and big. Very welcoming host and would definitely recommend it. Kington is a small place but plenty of things to do (and drink) over a weekend. Loved all the craft items.

Excellent accommodation and every consideration given to those with a vegan diet by the welcoming host. Cannot recommend more highly for vegans - the food was plentiful and a good choice available. Homemade products, e.g. marmalades, of a very high standard were included. This is the place to stay in Kington.

We stayed for two days over the easter holiday, as a last resort, as all the Hay-on-Wye hotels were fully booked, and this was a last minute thing. The place was easy to find, on the edge of Kingston, and we were greeted by the host, a wonderful gentleman called Adam. The B&B is Adam's home, of which he has... More

Stayed here for one night as I walked the Offa's Dyke National Trail. It is right on the path as you come down off the hills into the mall town of Kington. Simple, clean, perfectly cooked and presented breakfast. Adam the proprietor is a fascinating man and the place is full of his creativity, sewing, weaving, patchwork, music. The place... More

This is a small B&B, but that's fine if you're just passing through Kington, looking for a place to rest your head. It's also fine if you intend being out and about, travelling and exploring, returning to sleep. There are just two letting rooms and a shared bathroom, but I was there on my own, so I had everything to... More

Travelling alone, I needed a stop-over. The Benchmark just suited me. Comfortable, bijou, friendly and nicely situated. Adam was a caring host. My bedroom was all-I could ask for - comfortable, quiet, good firm bed with crisp linen, radio, wash-basin and ... bathroom just across the hall. The compact stairs might be hard navigation for the less-mobile - so phone... More

This was a wonderful B&B - and Adam was a great host and has a lovely cat. We were a bit worried about having shared bathroom facilities but they were immaculate. Adam also very kindly let us use his sitting room in the evening. Bedroom comfortable and breakfast was superb.

Conveniently located just as you enter the lovely hamlet of Kington, The Bench Mark is a wonderful place to stay at an eminently reasonable price. Adam, our host, welcomed us warmly into his well-appointed home which is filled with the beautiful things he makes - scarves woven from yarn he has spun himself, tasty home-made marmalade, and impressive books he... We received a very warm welcome from Adam, despite arriving late and dripping wet after a hard day's walking on Offa's Dyke. Our rooms were lovely and clean, with beautiful cotton bed linen and nice biscuits (in my experience a good test for a B and B). The house is lovely and full of interest, reflecting Adam's many interests and... More
