Host Alan makes the walker feel very welcome at their arrival. The rooms are cosy, catered by Coffee and Tea and - for a change - not a television. The absense of the last proved to guarantee a good night's sleep without being woken by neighboring sounds. So I read my book. That was nice. Had a couple of nice... More

Have used as a stop-over on several occasions and found it a wonderful place to stay. OK, the bedrooms are not large, nor do they have ensuite facilities or TV but they are clean warm and comfortable. You will also appreciate the fresh milk, coffees, teas and infusions that your host Adam provides in the rooms. An interesting and quirky... More

Single room I stayed in was so cosy (As was the the entire place) & had such a comfortable bed! Brilliant breakfast including freshly ground coffee. Adam is so attentive. I was even asked if I had any dietary requirements. In a word… brilliant! Benchmark is a real treasure to Kington and the UK.

Adam and cat "Benny" are the perfect hosts, making you welcome and keeping you smiling. Stayed here to walk a piece of Offa's Dyke and was pleased with Adam's local knowledge. He also cooks a lovely breakfast and makes a fine cup of coffee! Will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here with family so we could attend a family event so we had both rooms, this is alternative accomodation to what you usually find in Kington, suited to the eccentric and open minded, lots of beautiful pictures throughout, wonderful organic hand soap, good shower, quality organic cotton sheets - it did feel like we were staying in someone's home... This B&B is a unique experience. Adam gives you a warm welcome and nothing is to much trouble. The house is charming and full of character the bedroom was very comfortable the shared bathroom fine and spacious with a good shower. Adam makes a very good breakfast. We would stay here again if we are in the area.

Stayed at the Benchmark B and B during the Hay festival. A wonderful warm welcome from host, Adam. The house is full of character in a quiet leafy part of the town. The bedroom very comfortable, bathroom as you would expect and breakfast perfect. I loved the intimacy of the place and there is no doubt I will stay here... More

We've just been to the Hay Festival and really enjoyed staying at The Bench Mark. It's a cosy, comfortable b&b that's full of character and packed with lots of interesting objects and pictures. Adam, who runs the place, is a great guy - very friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathroom are super-clean and the shower is nice and powerful!... More

My partner and I stayed at the Bench Mark for one night this past August. The house is charming and intimate, and our host, Adam, was an engaging and fascinating conversationalist. The double room was extremely cozy and comfortable, and the tv-free atmosphere enabled us to relax easily. Although the bathroom was shared, there was an additional WC next to... More

We stayed at the Benchmark for two nights and regretted that we couldn't stay longer. The house is very homely and cosy. Everything is spotless and well looked after. The BnB offers a tv-free experience with the breakfast being sourced from local ingredients. We loved the ecological and free spirit of the house and all the wonderfully crafted items made... More
