You couldn't ask for a friendlier landlord in Fred and the food is good honest pub food. My steak was cooked to perfection with proper home made chips, The wife's mixed grill was all you would want in a carnivores platter again all cooked to perfection.

We thought we would try the steak night here. The building from the street is impressive-a lovely 18th/early 19th frontage, but the interior is crying out for a make over.It is tired and dark and rather turns its back on the elegant frontage. It is very like the whole town of Kington. What could be a very attractive town looks tired and 'tatty'.... I was down from London travelling solo on a walking weekend staying at the nearby YHA and really appreciated the friendly atmosphere, excellent real ale and good quality wholesome food, all served with care and consideration by the manager and staff.

My bro and I stayed in a twin room. Comfortable beds and warm room. It is an old pub, so therefore don't expect a chain style modern room. It is a charming place. Fred, the owner, very hospitable and a real hard worker! One of the reasons for staying here was to eat well, drink well, and collapse for the... More

Fred the landlord offered a great welcome and genuine friendly service during our visit of one night. What this ancient hotel lacks due to age is more than made up with atmosphere. The breakfast and dinner were well priced, very tasty and plenty of it.

The Oxford Arms, Kington is hands down the most friendly and atmospheric pub in town. The food is second to none and the specials board is constantly changing meaning that there is always something new on offer. Fred and Sadie are always extremely accommodating and you couldn't meet a nicer couple. All the staff are exceptionally courteous and always at... More

This pub is well worth a visit, it isn't the prettiest place but the food and service more than make up for it. The home cooked food was delicious and and the portions were generous. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We will definitely be back when we visit this area again.

Although I live in Kington I had a house full of guests so decided that as it was my birthday I would stop here with my husband and save the walk home. Wow is all I can say. Fred and Sadie are great hosts and the rooms are fabulous. Spacious spotless and a fantastic nights sleep with marvellous breakfast even... More

My friend and I (two women walking Offa's Dyke) were very happy we chose this place. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The pub doesn't look particularly inviting on the outside, but once inside we felt at home and were warmly welcomed by the owner. My trout was delicious and perfectly cooked.
