My sister got married at Manor of Groves in April 09. We all had a great day, the sun was shining, the setting was perfect and all 200 guests loved this location. It was a tight schedule, an Indian Wedding, Civil Ceremony & then Evening Reception. The initial organisation was a breeze as communication with the Co-ordinator: Jade, was prompt... more

I went here for valentines day. i actually live just down the road and have been here a few times for functions and to meet friends who come to stay there. i was particularly disappointed with how basic the room was. it was an executive suite although i would hate to have seen anything on a lower par. the setting... more

We have had 2 celebrations for my mother's 90th birthday, one on 18 January for her actual birthday and consisted of a private room with lunch for 20 people. The organisation was excellent and all went without a hitch. The food was delicious and the staff looked after us brilliantly. Nothing was too much trouble. It was children, grandchildren and... more

Have not stayed overnight but it is a great meeting location, with possibility to negotiate use of heath club to day-meeting attendees. Quite close to Stansted airport (sometimes will hear the planes softly in the background.). more

We had our wedding at this hotel and most of the guests including myself and the groom stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The rooms were lovely and clean, the staff very helpful and it was a charming place to have the wedding. Most of the guests were impressed with the service and quality of the food. Highly rated more

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel for one night and in the package we paid for included Valentines dinner. From the time of arrival to check out we had a wonderful time. I found the staff to be very attentive and friendly; the leisure facilities are one of the best I have seen in some of the hotels... more

We stayed for a wedding on the 6th Feb. The heated towel rail in the bathroom didn't work properley in room 321. I reported it to the reception desk, who said maintenance had gone home, but we could move rooms, I had unpacked so said we would stay in the room. It was very cold outside, but our room was... more

We stayed for two nights and the glossy website and initial impressions were very promising. Staff throughout (maids excepted) were always great but then you get behind the facade and things are not as good. Cleanliness is a biggie for us and a toilet seat with yellowing edges and brown splashes dried underneath is not a great start. The pot... more

Thank you for your comments regarding the cleanliness and food at Manor of Groves. I have employed a new Head Chef, and he certainly hasn't left us!! We do pride ourselves on producing fresh food on our daily Table d'hote menu. We even produce most of our own desserts. You refer to the Brakes delivery you saw. Almost all Hotels...

I agree with the previous review - nice staff but too young and inexperienced. What is required is a really good manager to train them - perhaps young staff have been hired as they are cheaper? Lovely grounds - I was really impressed driving up to the hotel but then you walk in and it's an average conference centre type... more
