I booked this hotel via their website, got a total price for our weekend stay and then called to confirm that the price quoted online still applied. I was told, by the manager, that yes it did and I went ahead with the booking. The hotel promised an email confirmation which didn't arrive. A few days later when I checked... more

I write this, as I wave away the moth’s, flies and midges. Yes it is a hot day in the UK, but I am here in the bar of the Water-Mill in Hemel, and as my hands wave up and down, left and right, possibly more today than the Queen did on her Jubilee day (I’m sure much to Phillip's... more

Without any doubt , this is the most entertaining review we ever had.The attention to detail and ability to elaborate are impeccable. The mix of self-mockery and away-from-home bete noir is delightful.I have enjoyed this review , and have shown it to all members of our staff. Indeed , BW Watermill is situated in Hertfordshie contryside , surrounded by water from...

A hotel with decent if unispiring buildings on a riverside setting, geared to conferences and weddings, with disappointing customer care. I was there for a 2 day meeting, and found reception slow and not particularly helpful - culminating in them charging me for items I had thought were agreed to go to the business account, without bothering to tell me... more

Having recently stayed at the WaterMill you soon realise where the name originates. The rooms overlooking the river that runs through the hotel grounds are greeted by the noise of the river at the old WaterMill. Check in was straight forward and I have noticed a practice recently by hotels, including this one, to pre authorise credit off your credit... more

We attended a wedding reception here and stayed for two nights, yes the rooms are a little tired, but are kept very clean. The staff were without exception polite and helpful. Not sure why one of the reviewers needed to mention nationalities. The wedding food was good, breakfast was plenty. Our superior room was a good size with a comfortable... more

This hotel I would rate as being a business hotel, and for those visiting the local area. The service is very efficient, the rooms large and very clean, and the food above average. The only down side is the very iffy internet service. more

I recently visited the Watermill for a one night stay. The stay was for business and the dinner was included. The hotel is in a very pleasant location being on the banks of the Grand Union Canal, however due to a lack of investment the Hotel accomadation is very 70's and is not up to a modern standard. The room... more

After reading some of the reviews for this hotel we were a little concerned. However, only staying for one night we did not worry too much. We had nothing to worry about. The hotel is in a lovely setting right on the river. We stayed in a family room which was spacious, clean and had plenty of hot (actually very... more

I can't believe how similar my experience was to Finicular's. We too lost hot water mid-evening, never had an apology but were treated with obdurate insolence by the supposed acting manager who has clearly never met the words 'customer service' and has no idea what the concept means. This Parvez proved to be a most unpleasant man and our stay... more
