Actually ended up staying here instead of in St Albans as ha intended as this was good value in a great location. Nice bar with an outside area in a nice setting. Good pub opposite (forget the name) that did pretty good food. Rooms ok - not the best but comfortable. Really nice breakfast as I recall.

Stayed 1 night for a business trip. Hotel website says it is one of the finest hotels in Hemel Hempstead (seriously doubt that!), it has tastefully appointed rooms (it does not!) and it offers refined luxury (nothing remotely near that description!). It's a cross between a hostel and a 1970's motel. Needs major refurbishment, bed was awful and had just... More

Extremely loud music from function suite kept young family awake until after midnight. Much better stay at significantly cheaper Travelodge the following night, with warmer welcome and just as good facilities and breakfast. At Best Western Had to ask for extra pillows which were already in room at cheaper Travelodge room. Had difficulty parking as function parking seemed to take... More

A bit disappointed with this hotel, room in separate block accessed via concrete steps, room was clean and comfortable but there was an old damp patch on the ceiling. Breakfast was in a very small tired room, and was quite disorganised. Staff were all very friendly and helpful though.

Bar is very out of date decor-wise and quite dismal. Service poor, much training of new staff who often have language barrier problems and never enough on hand for amount of customers. Wine not kept at low enough temperature where even a poor wine can be improved if cold enough. Deck area is lovely but needs maintenance

Stay here quite a bit and this hotel is improving all the time. The rooms are good comfortable and an excellent size, the staff are friendly and curtious and the food very tasty. The hotel is excellently located with free Wi-Fi.

Stay almost every week. Lovely Hotel - really clean with a small river running through it. Right next to the canal which is great if you fancy a run or a walk. A number of great pubs in the area so if you are there for a long stay there is plenty of variety of where to eat and drink.... More
