To be honest I didn't have great expectations of "The Comet" and booked it only because of its convenient location. In the end I was pleasantly surprised as it was better than expected. Previous reviews mention the good staff, and my stay definitely backed this up - they were both helpful and friendly. I stayed in Room 1 which was... More

If you leave windows open, noise from the street can be loudly. Sometimes you hear people from the hallway and their talks. For me bed is too softy, room was nice, but bathroom have some kind of fungus on the seal at shower. Staff are helpful and friendly. Food was average. Its not a bad hotel for business trips if... Stayed here now for 3 weeks on business and it not bad. I have stayed in far worse places, the hotel is looking a little tired and needs some TLC both internally and externally. The staff are wonderful. Do not forget to register your car for the parking or it will cost you a fortune, again the check in staff... More

We booked a Murder Mystery Evening at this Hotel for a Friday night stay. The room we were in was on the ground floor (we were offered a choice), and it seemed to be in a newer part of the hotel. It was a decent size with recliner chair and footstool, large flat screen tv, desk/chair and a hanging area... More

This hotel is very dated. It be probably due to be knocked down now and replaced to match some of the other hotels in the area. My room smelled of smoke which was very annoying and the bathtub looked like it has been repaired over and over by the cheapest labour they could find. It was so off putting I... More

Only problem I had was they had no milk left when I asked for the small cartons for our room so I had to go to the bar and ask for a jug, and I was given a tiny jug. or any white sugar for the room. Also we shut the window yet there was a huge draft still coming... More

Thank you for your 3 star review and I am pleased to read you found the bed brilliant to sleep in and the bedrooms ok. Many guests do approach reception for additional tea & coffee making supplies; the hotel would not have run out but obviously reception did not have some items at the desk. The owners do read TripAdvisor... More

My family & I stayed here for 2 nights on a bus trip. Our son (who lives in London) visited us one night for a drink & a catch up but unfortunately did not register his car as he knew he would only be visiting for a short while. He received a parking fine for £60 3 weeks later. Beware... More

Thank you for your review. I am glad you found the hotel clean & quiet but sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The position of this hotel in relation to other local amenities, educational establishments and businesses unfortunately necessitates some form of parking restrictions and control to ensure that our hotel guests secure car parking. To avoid confusion these... More

On the way to the Channel Tunnel I stayed here. I thought I was going to pass out with the heat in the room, and there was no heat on!! The bathroom has a sign advising that the water gets very hot, Why............can't they control the temperature from the source? The shower head also needs changing more of a spit... More

Thank you for your 3 star review and I am pleased to read you found your bed comfy and our breakfast good. I am sorry you found your bedroom hot. As you state the heating is not on in the hotel so it is just the good weather we are having that is causing this. The signs advising that the... More
