We did not stay at the Hotel just stopped for lunch when visiting Buklers Hard. Sat outside and the view was wonderful. Ordered fish and chips with garden peas. The fish was very greasy, the beer batter was thin but obviously had not been drained. The peas were like bullets, the chips were OK. The price at £12.95 owed more... More

Room was small but adequate. Cleanliness was only average. Bed comfortable. Decor very dark. Breakfast was good, although it was a lottery as to whether eggs were cooked hard or soft - I got one of each one morning! We ate in the bar once - I have reviewed this separately so as not to lower the rating of the hotel... Five of us walked from Beaulieu for lunch, arrived a little late, 2.40, 10 minutes after lunch time. But this is an Hotel I say. "The chef works from 6 am to 9pm" says the barman. "Obviously he doesn't otherwise you would be serving lunch." Then proceeds to serve me whisyt a dutchman is waiting for his coffee. The coffee... More

We were guess at a recent wedding and the whole operation was excellent. Staff were very pleasant and in attendance but everything was very relaxed, matching the guests. The food was of high quality and could not be faulted. The location is of course stunning, a historic place too, all on the Beaulieu river, one of Hampshire's finest. Definitely a... More

We have visited the Madter Builders Hotel at Bucklers Hard every September for the last few years as we visit the Southampton Boat Show. It is a nice quiet hotel full of historic charm. The restaurant, although on the small side, serves locally sourced produce and has a nice variety. When booking a room I advise asking to be in... More

I can't understand how this place isn't a brilliant place to stay, it should be easy as it's placed in one of the most stunning areas in the UK - AND IT'S ON THE WATER! It's just not that slick really, plenty of room for improvement. Pros Stunning location, reasonably priced, cafetière in room and the food was fine. Cons... More

I attended a family wedding with my 94 year old mother who has limited mobility and walks with a wheeled walker. Prior to our visit I phoned the hotel and explained about my mother's disability we were travelling and would need to change prior to the wedding. Our room was not available on arrival and the room we were offered... More

We stayed here for a family wedding and it is a lovely hotel with beautiful views ideal for wedding photos. The service and food were fantastic and Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day. My only complaint is when you travel to a wedding you need to get changed, all of our rooms were unavailable. We had phoned the... More

Firstly, the staff were friendly, helpful and couldnt do enough. We requested the newer part of the hotel, the rooms are small and a bit tired in places. Carpets and decor need revising. Towels and toiletries were all good. Breakfast was a let down, porridge inedible and the smallest kippers I have ever seen. I do not see £130 per... More

This was a special escape for a couple of nights while visiting the UK. While it was OK, it was not what we were really expecting. The location is beautiful and the buildings were very attractive. The things we didn't find as good. Firstly the room was very noisy. We were next to the gravel car park and our window... More
