I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel, sadly only for one night, but a wonderful opportunity to get off the 'hamster wheel' for a short while! I booked the one night weekend spa break which included dinner in the evening (a choice of any three courses from the a la cart menu, which was excellent value) and a reduced... more

Stayed three nights for business. Staff from check-in to check-out were fantastic, good breakfast and nice dinner menu. Company was picking up the cheque, but I would say the food is very expensive and rooms rates are also quite expensive for the location. Only negative was the lack of charm of the the building, it's a fairly new build, so... more

We had a half-term short break at the Solent Hotel - it was our first stay at a Shire Hotel and we'll definitely book with them again as we had a fantastic time. The hotel is located just off J9 of the M27 and in a business park, but don't let that put you off. It's a great location for... more

Spent one Saturday night in this hotel when my first choice of hotels in the area were fully booked. It turned out to be a good decision. Once you enter the hotel, the rather souless external surroundings are forgotten. The public areas are cosy with good use of natural materials like wooden beams and nice subdued lighting. The restaurant terrace... more

Just returned from a 1 night stay here. We used the Shire hotel loyalty points that my husband has aquired from business trips so it was free, but the normal rate for friday night DBB is about £90 pp which is reasonable value. I arrived at 3pm, keen to use the pool, however it was full of little children. This... more

3 Children (6,4,2) and 2 adults stayed in one triple room in the newly renovated part of the hotel. The hotel is in the middle of a renovated however the staff were very helpful and you really did not notice. nice restaurant however the highlight was the clean and largely empty swimming pool, the kids loved it. I would recommend... more

The winelist contains 'hidden gems' recomendations and I would describe this hotel in the same way...location is a bit strange, in a business park off the motorway, but the pool, spa, gym, food, staff and decor are all first class. Go there. Really nice atmosphere. more

I stay in this Hotel once of twice every week for work, and occasional weekends with the family and I have not been disappointed. The service is excellent with helpful staff that are always available. There are three different types of room, there are family rooms with bunk beds, they can sleep four people, but you do get a reduced... more

At around 156 pounds this place is expensive if you don't want to make use of the large pool and the gym. Plus points: well trained, friendly, polite staff throughout; a nice big comfortable room with fridge and a good tea-making kit; good breakfast with fresh orange juice; large pool. Not so good: food quality at dinner - most of... more

The hotel is clean, tidy and the staff are quite polite, but it is so expensive for what it is. I know most people staying would be getting their business to pick up the tab, but that wasn't the case for me and therefore price was a big factor. There seems to be a real shortage of medium-priced but reasonable... more
