Very good food and service, well-appointed rooms, patio area and riverside garden delightful on a (mostly) sunny weekend. Breakfast outside with the papers on the Saturday morning was a treat. It's an interesting breakfast menu (smoked trout with scrambled egg, wild mushrooms on toast with fried duck egg, kedgeree, good bread, pastries, etc, as well as excellent full English). It... More

We decided to use this venue for my daughters 40th celebration and what a good choice. We had a Courtyard Garden all to ourselves, a very well prepared BBQ ran by Paul who was 'attention' itself and Rebecca (a Saint on legs) who waited on us the whole evening. Food was superb, our guests really enjoyed themselves, and all the... More

Went to the Greyhound on recommendation, we were eating in the evening so only wanted something light, although lighter dishes were available it wasn't quite what we wanted. One of our party opted for Welsh Rarebit (I think it was priced at £12or £14) which I thought was expensive. The pub is obviously very popular, and I would have enjoyed... More

We visited The Greyhound for a two-night mid-week stay and were very happy with both the accommodation and the food. It's a lovely old building with bags of character but the en-suite rooms have all the modern comforts you need. We had a room at the back of the pub (these are quieter, the rooms at the front are over... More

I stayed here with a party of fisherman. We had dinner, breakfast and lunch. There is an extensive and varied menu with all sorts of culinary influences from around the world. The food is very well presented and of a high standard. There is also a good wine list. The restaurant is busy and clearly has a substantial local following.... More

This excellent pub/hotel goes on getting better. The outside area has been revamped along with a larger car park. Most impressive are the new rooms that have very recently opened in what had been an adjoining building. We stayed in 'Leet 3' with striking modern furnishings and a pretty stunning bathroom. The new Manager, a Frenchman with the unlikely name... More

Our friends suggested meeting here as we were coming up from Winchester and they from Salisbury, we had a superb lunch from the small but excellent menu, we had a lot to catch up on, so a bottle of champagne was in order, soon demolished and another, the hosts were fine with out laughter and we had a great time,... I have visited this establishment for lunch with some fishing friends and the food and service were excellent. On the basis of this experience I decided that it would be nice to stay in the hotel and enjoy a relaxed dinner after a day fishing on The River Test. I first tried to E mail the hotel to establish a... More

Dear James, Firstly, I would like to express my sincere apologies to you. I was pleased to read on your tripadvisor review that on a previous occasion you enjoyed your visit to The Greyhound on the Test. However, I am sorry that we have more recently let you down. Clearly the service you have experienced is not up to standard.... More

We stayed here on the way to visit relatives. Stockbridge is delightful and the Greyhound did not disappoint....initially. We were given room no. 6 at the front and, as we were to discover later, above the bar. The pub and the rooms are beautifully decorated with real style. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and the bathroom well equipped.... More

Visits to this gastropub in recent years have been adequate but slightly disappointing: menu items not available, variable service and cramped eating. However, under recent management, it is being rewarded for a marked improvement. The menu is imaginative and varied and offering plenty of choice for smaller appetites and vegetarians. For the price of the main dishes one might have... More
