We stayed overnight for a trip to good wood the hotel is very impressive well layer out with lots of facilities. The rooms were large clean and comfortable , however no air on in ours . Beds a little hard for my taste . Breakfast was to say the least superb, cooked and presented brilliantly. Top hotel but pricey.

This is an interesting and ultimately good hotel but with some funny quirks. Before I get going I have to say I have enjoyed my stay and there are many many good things about this hotel. In fact this review is more about how they could go from good to great. First off the rooms and facilities are very good,... More

My friend and I treat ourselves twice a year to an overnight stay as it is the place to truly relax. It has a fantastic spa with everything you could wish for. The rooms are lovely, beds very comfortable and the overall atmosphere of the hotel is peaceful with friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend this place for singles... More

I attended a charity golf day and very much enjoyed the course but the greens were very fast!! Prepared for Captains day this weekend. It is a lovely course with many challenges not least the greens. A lovely terrace on a sunny day to enjoy drinks and a very light and airy room for dinner which was a two course... More

Our arrival and room were fine, except the TV reception kept breaking up and the basin was blocked. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. The food was very good but unfortunately the dining room service was very haphazard, although the staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a distinct lack of management visibility. The golf course is beautiful but... More

A friend asked me to organize a weekend away to celebrate his 60th birthday I chose Old Thorns as I had heard good things about the golf course so ten of us went. What a find we went on Friday 12th June & stayed two nights we had BB&D the evening meal was a two course carvery which was excellent... More

We were a group of twelve playing golf over two days. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and varied. Lunch in sports bar speedy and good pub grub. The draft bitters were undrinkable (Cloudy and poorly kept - but good selection of other beers) Dinner carvery was poorly stocked with many items missing from the starters and mains. Whilst we were sitting... More

Fantastic hotel, staff were all courteous and friendly and I am really surprised by previous comments about this. Golf course is challenging and the tee boxes do need some attention in places but there were plenty of ground staff out mowing fairways etc, so this is more to do with how much it gets used. Greens had been micro-tined 3weeks... More

We've just come back from an overnight stay Spa and Golf at the Old Thorns. What a lovely place! My friend and I had a couple of spa treatments, enjoyed the wellness spa facilities, pool, hot tub, sub tropical pool, steam room and hot stone beds (unfortunately the sauna was out of action, but didn't spoil our stay). The girls... More

26 of us stayed at Old Thorns golfers and non golfers and most of us had been here before about 6 years ago. Disappointed this time and everyone agreed that the facilities for golfers were very dis-jointed. The emphases seems to have changed to one night stays and Weddings. Carvery every night a bit boring and lack of choice. No... More
