Just returned from a one night break. We only live 15mins down the road but decided to just get away for a night...and how relaxing it was! Upgraded room on arrival, which was lovely. The biggest challenge for this property is that it is positioned as a country house retreat but doesn't fulfill on that promise. As previous reviewers have noted, the physical appearance of the addition belies any sense of English country house grandeur. Behind the boxy facade is a monstrous, institutional addition. Staff and service was excellent. Staff anticipated my needs and were always on hand to offer directions, a drink or a towel depending on the circumstances.
